Umm...
I know I'm a big Sukka fan, but Yukka is kinda cute, too. I liked it at the end of Book One. This story isn't really my style cause it's so angsty, but ATLA has really good angst potential. *shrugs* It's also really short, but that's not weird for me, lol.

So I guess this takes place after the Book One finale and before Book Two, or something like that.

Enjoy~

Moonlight

Tragedy makes the heart grow fonder.

.x.x.x.

He hates the moon.

He hates it because every time he sees it, he is reminded. Reminded of her hair, her eyes, her kiss, her everything, and honestly, it's something he'd rather forget.

It's hard to get over your first love, and he's coming to terms with that in the most painful of ways. It's not that she doesn't love him. She loves him so much that she died - in his arms - in order to save everyone, including himself. And the worst part is that even though she's dead, she still alive, as the spirit of the moon. And that means that every night, he sees her.

He could have stopped Zhao. He doesn't know how, but he knows he could have. But it doesn't matter now, because Zhao is dead. And just like Yue, he isn't coming back.

He could have married her, he thinks, and it hurts because he wanted to. And still wants to so much that it's the worst feeling he's ever felt. He could have married a beautiful princess who loved him. Correction: loves him. Because even if she can't say it, she still does more than he can imagine.

At night, when she is looking down at him, he dreams of children - children with bright blue eyes and dark brown hair and he knows they're his and they're hers. And he knows he can never have them.

He doesn't stay up late anymore so he won't have to look at it, won't have to look at her. As soon as the sun goes down, he is ready to sleep. He doesn't crack as many jokes as he did before. He's trying to be happy, but it's sadly not working and everything is eating away at him. His sister worries about him; she asks why and he says it's just because he's tired and worried about the war, which is partially true but mostly a lie.

It's because he doesn't want to see her.

And, truthfully, he even hates her now because she made him hurt so freaking bad.

He hates the moon because he loves it so much.
