Vincent & Red XIII/Nanaki

Author's Note: Red XIII can live for centuries, as seen by everyone who beat the game, and Vincent has been hinted at as possibly being able to live forever unless killed thanks to Hojo's experiments on him (although I can't remember exactly where I saw that).

Also, this may become a series of little one-shots/drabbles depending on interest/reactions.

It was a depressing thought, knowing that all of the friends he had made would die of old age while he would still be rather young for his species. He didn't want to accept that eventually all of them would be gone and he would remain, alone. Vincent had become a friend of his, closer than most of the others, and had surprised him when the man had said he was unsure if he could ever die of old age due to the experiments performed on him.

The knowledge that the other would continue living for a long time after the rest of the group was gone had quickly led to him and Vincent opening up to each other much more than they would have otherwise. It had also, without either of them realizing it, led to a mutual attraction between the two although it took some time for Vincent to finally let go of Lucrecia. Things were quite awkward for a while after they both acknowledged their attraction to each other, but thankfully they had been able to move beyond that.

Physical intimacy had been an awkward and difficult subject in the beginning and something they had not tried until after Sephiroth's defeat. But Vincent had eventually had the idea that his galian beast would be a more appropriate form for them and had slowly gained full control over his transformations until he retained his mind completely. When they had finally had sex it was a mind blowing experience and also a great relief to a worry that both of them had felt but neither had voiced.

Now they had a nice little place just outside of Cosmo Canyon where they could be themselves and live with as much or as little solitude as they wanted. Sunlight was streaming in through a window they hadn't bothered to draw the curtains over before they got too excited to care about who might see them. Nanaki smiled, as much as he physically could, as he looked at Vincent sleeping next to him. It was rare that he got to see the man looking completely peaceful and at ease.

The man was on his back, face turned away from the sun and toward Nanaki. He was also completely naked, so Nanaki gently got off the bed to close the curtains, knowing his lover would not like the idea of people being able to see him in all his glory. Then he hopped back into bed and curled up next to Vincent, resting his head on the man's chest and listening to his heartbeat.

A pale arm snaked around his neck and pulled him tighter against the body under him, but Vincent didn't say anything. He was probably still asleep and Nanaki wasn't in any hurry to start the day so he closed his eyes and let sleep return. Perhaps later Vincent would let his inner beast loose and they would have some fun or they might decide to visit their friends while they still lived, but for now they were both content to sleep a little longer and enjoy the warmth and comfort of having the one they loved next to them.
