"Mattie our parents have a date tonight do you want to steal the champagne when Arthur is too drunk and they aren't paying attention." Alfred asking as the two walked home.
They lived next to each other and have friends for years. Arthur Kirkland the single English teacher and father of Alfred Jones met the French teacher and father if Matthew Williams and they started dating. The adults were both unknown to the fact that the two sons had been dating two weeks earlier. That was two years ago and both sets of lovers planned to meet at Arthurs for the New Year.
"Sure Alfred." The quiet timid voice of Matthew replied giving their intertwined hands a squeeze.
"Great." The loud reply of Alfred rang out on the empty street as the two continued their path to their house.
Entering the house the two watched as their parents finished the New Year's Eve snacks and drinks. Arthur was making the drinks, taking unknown sips when Francis wasn't looking. Francis was cooking over the stove, the aroma from the food filing the room. The two boys set their bags on the table and walked into the kitchen.
"Hey mom and dad, what's for dinner?" Alfred greeted taking a bite of the hamburgers Francis left out for the two.
"Hamburgers and chips, both of you are allowed to drink one glass." Arthur said looking up from what he was doing.
"Yet they would still be more sober than you." Francis whispered jokingly to Arthur.
The two watched as the adults glared at each other before kissing each other. The two teenage boys awkwardly walked away to Alfred's room. Doing their homework they had before their break started they waited until Arthur screamed for them to come and eat. After eating everyone took their first glass of champagne. Arthur's was gone by ten minutes in, Francis had his finished in the next hour, Alfred's gone in ten minutes with Arthur, however Matthew's was gone in 4 hours.
He slowly took slips and just made them be small and simple, something everyone else seemed to lack. In five hours Arthur was drunk, Francis was rather buzzed, and Alfred was about normal, but Matthew was still plenty sober without a single buzz. The games were put away by 9:30 and as the adults went to bed Alfred and Matthew finished the other half of the bottle of champagne. The adults didn't even notice the fact that the bottle was gone. Or that the boys were both upstairs laughing and slowly drinking, enjoying that the New Year was coming soon.
