It wasn't supposed to be like this...

Bailey once again tossed and turned violently in her sleep, as if she was a wild animal trying to escape a trap. Her eyes refused to close and she was always woken back up by a violent jolt whenever she tried to sleep again. She hadn't had a proper night's sleep for God knows how long. She tried everything, from drinking pints upon pints of warm milk, taking sleeping pills, taking bottles of essential oils, and even tranquilizers, but she still couldn't sleep. Although she tried to act happy and cheerful for everyone, she was suffering inside, her system shutting down by the minute. No one seemed to notice, well, everyone except for Chato Santana, her loving boyfriend. He became worried when he saw the bags under her eyes growing darker and her yawns becoming more frequent, but he figured everything out when he caught her up at five am. She had insomnia, and he didn't call her stupid or silly for admitting it. He though she was extremely brave. Early one morning, she called him at four in the morning, sobbing and shaking, begging him to help her sleep. He immediately jumped out of bed, not even bothering to put on a shirt, and rushed to Bailey's house in a frenzy. Slamming the door open and closed, Chato rushed into the dark house, running up the stairs to Bailey's room, where he heard quiet bawling.

"Bailey, are you ok?" Chato whispered, opening the door a little. He saw her sitting up in her bed, tears rushing down her cheeks. The tattooed Mexican ran over to her bed and pulled her into his arms, laying his chin on her head. Bailey's crying ceased a bit as he gently rocked her back and forth, especially at the feel of his warm arms around her.

"Can't sleep?" He asked, holding her tighter as she nodded in humiliation.

"I haven't been able to sleep for weeks." Bailey admitted, burying her face in the crook of his tattooed neck.

"I think I might be able to help." Chato whispered, hugging her tightly, the fire inside him making his skin feel like a furnace to Bailey. He lay back in the bed, pulling her down with him, so she was lying next to him and facing him. Then, what came next was completely unexpected to Bailey. He began to sing to her, but in Spanish. Although confused at first, Bailey soon melted into his silky, deep voice singing in his native tongue, in fact, it actually made her feel sleepy, something she hadn't felt in a long time. As he held her close in his warm arms, she felt her red lidded eyes start to get heavier and heavier until she couldn't stay awake any longer. By the time he finished the song, she was fast asleep in his arms, her brown hair cascading over the pillow and her head on Chato's shoulder. Her breathing became steady, and her heartbeat regulated. Chato smiled down at her sleeping figure, before kissing the top of her head.

"Te amo." He whispered, before kissing her again and falling asleep as well. This time, Bailey slept the whole night through...
