Chapter 2(technically): The "Date"...

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Shinji sat anxiously on the bench in the Nerv parking center, the place where Misato said she would pick him up after work, this is where we're supposed to meet right? he thought to let his mind overpower any small amount of confidence he had in himself. Almost like it was against his own will, Shinji kept checking the small watch that adorned his left wrist with almost obsessive repetitiveness, am I too early? he thought, acting like a school girl with a crush. He felt like screaming as he watched the small finger of the wristwatch slowly etch itself across each small tick mark.

tick tick tick,30 more minutes...

tick tick tick,25 more minutes...

tick tick tick,20 more minutes...

c'mon..., he moaned inwardly, he hated feeling like this, it felt like an evolved version of vomit was slowly forming in his intestines, he recognized the feeling from(oddly enough) some of his friend's more vulgar talk about some of the girls in his class. the anxiousness was rotting his mind with questions such as, did she forget or, was she just joking...

Finally, after an eternity in hell, Shinji finally heard the automatic doors open with a click as Misato walked out of them.

"Hey...Misato-san.", Misato jumped at the sudden noise, less from the noise of the sudden greeting as it had actually been rather quiet and reserved and more from just getting away from the obnoxious asshole she had to endure in the elevator. Dick thinks I'm that easy, asking for buttered or plain, she thought in a forcefully annoyed tone, doing her best to deny to herself that she actually thought the gut didn't look half bad, the bulge was a little too small though, she thought to lay her thoughts to rest at the expense of the assholes pride.

"Uh, Shinji what are you doing here?", she asked the anxious boy. We were supposed to meet at the house after all...but I guess this wastes less time breaking his little heart.', she thought jokingly but found that even she didn't like the distastefulness that her own joke evoked from herself.

"Wha-oh-I means well-", his psychotic ramblings were cut mercifully short by Misato breaking down into a small laughing fit and putting her hand against the wall to keep herself up and off of the parking lot floor, where numerous mysterious stains had made themselves home.

"We were supposed to meet at the house, Shinji.", she said mentally cursing at herself for going along with the boy and not stopping this novel stupidity already, what the hell does this even lead to anyway, you stupid bitch, you going to fuck him!?, she thought to herself but found it easy enough to deny to herself that she had any such plans with the child.

"Well um, should we go-or well umm, sorry...", Shinji mumbled, hating himself for being so worthless in this situation...and every other one.

"sigh, yeah I guess we should go, remember though, its gotta have a bar!", she said with a wink as she led Shinji to her parked car.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

The drive to whatever place Misato decided suit her fancy was a long and arduous one for Shinji, plagued by thoughts of increasing absurdity, involving Misato leading him to muggings, beatings, and other such things, Shinji knew that such things were unlikely to happen, but his young mind only had so much experience to make guesses with, and his experience wasn't good for anything of a positive notion.

"Hey Shinji, do you have a good idea for food?", misato asked, slightly embarrassed that she put no thought into this at all, bah, it's not like it's my fault, this was never even supposed to happen, she thought herself wishing she had someone to blame. Although, as Misato glanced over towards the boy that she decided would be fun to take on a date, she couldn't help but smile slightly with a sick satisfaction with how worried he looked simply from sitting there, her usual dates entailed douchebags that she always ended up fucking anyway, the type of man who she always meets, Juzo, Lino, Ino, kaji, always the same guy who just wants to fuck, and here she is, taking a shy, undeniably cute, boy to a sushi place, Misato began to think that maybe this wouldn't blow so bad, but she knew that it was worthless to fixate on this sort of thing.

"Umm, well, isn't there a new sushi place just a few blocks away from here.", shinji pointed out shyly, twiddling his thumbs in slight frustration, he couldn't really point out why though.

"Ahh, That's right! I also heard they got a hell of a sake!", she said conspiratorially toward Shinji while smacking her lips, Shinji tried to share her enthusiasm over alcohol, but could only dread the drive back home with a skeeved Misato.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

"T-the place is nice...isnt it?", shinji said in a desperate attempt for conversation as Misato scanned through the expansive liquor section that the sushi joint held.

"Yeah, it's better than the usual joints I go to.", misato half-heartedly replied due to the fact that she was too busy looking through the menu to pay much mind to the tranquil boy just across from her in the booth that they shared. Though once she was done looking for a good sake(she just decided to go with the house special), she looked around the place mentally comparing certain areas to the usual places.

She first looked over to the entrance, quite liking how there were two of those small, on the wall waterfalls on either side of the double doors that led to the outside. The spectacle of the entrance was very different from the usual entrances that Misato was used to, there was no tough-acting bouncer that looked up and down at you, acting like he knew something, there was no passed out drunk laying down on bench mumbling about a mistress, there were no assholes trying to get an easy score, though Misato had to admit it was entertaining to watch their attempts, and it was an easy way to get a few free drinks. There were many other differences, such as no shitty club music clouding her head as she drank, she was also eating out with someone else for a change, usually, the only time she was graced with another's presence while drinking were the aforementioned assholes or Ritsuko, and she wasn't exactly the most fun person to get drunk with, though, she doubted Shinji would be much better.

No, it was just her in her normal uniform with the jacket left sluggishly on the side of the booth, leaving a simple cotton long sleeve shirt and a mini skirt. Shinji had dressed a bit more intricately, with a red polo shirt and khakis instead of his usual white shirt, belt, and cargo pants.

"Umm, so what sushi should we get?", shinji asked, hoping that Misato had only looked at beer, which sadly, he didn't doubt she did.

"I'll, have some yellowtail, that stuff goes great with sake! How about you?", she asked Shinji, expecting that he would pick the most expensive thing, Misato didn't know why, but, whenever she footed the bill for anyone, they always picked the most expensive fucking thing, damn Ritsuko with "but its a special occasion!", she thought with mock filled bitterness.

"I'll...I'll have the rainbow, sorry for making you pay.", he said shyly while looking at his ward, who was sporting a semi-blank mixed with pleasant surprise stare.

"Should...should I pay?", shinji asked, guessing that that was what her stare was supposed to be getting across.

"What, no-no I'm not going to make some kid pay for my meal, I'm not that irresponsible!", she smiled as she raised her hand to grasp a waiters attention, all while thinking that somehow-SOMEHOW Shinji would be more of a "gentleman" than any other person she had ever taken out, and she didn't even have to fuck him as a thank you, what great day!

One of the waiters approached with a smile, though, Misato noticed that smile drape a little as the waiter fully took in the people at the booth, and she didn't like it. so a cougar, huh, the waiter thought mockingly.

Shinji, however, was too busy looking at his feet to notice anything. Though he finally looked up when the waiter asked them for their orders. They each gave their respective orders and the waiter left.

"what a bitch.", misato muttered under breath, though Shinji still picked up on it, Misato wasn't exactly why she felt that way about the waiter, but something in that look of hers just rubbed Misato the wrong way.

"Wh-what, why would you say that Misato-san?", shinji asked, surprised and a little aghast that Misato actually thought that way about anyone, Shinji thought that she liked everyone...was she just faking?

Misato decided to spare Shinji, thinking that if she had ever actually told him what the waiter probably thought of him and her by extension, he'd burst into tears.

"Nothing, my cute little boy~friend.", she said in an elongated fashion. shinji replied to this statement by stiffening up and then looking for the menu that had just been taken from them.

Misato laughed slightly while putting her chin in the palm of her hand that was leaning on the table, yeah...boyfriend, what a catch, she mused to herself while looking at the young boy fumble around for something to distract him.

yeah, would THAT work out, she mused sarcastically to herself, already knowing that it wouldn't, hell, she can barely keep someone her own age around, what makes her think that she could keep a 14-year-old boy around? though, it doesn't mean they couldn't do this again sometime, yeah, just two friends hanging out time to time.

That...was okay.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Once their food arrived, Misato wasted no time in getting plastered, mostly hoping that she would be able to drown away her thoughts of the boy that she was supposed to be the guardian of, almost completely forgetting the sushi on the way to her conquest.

Shinji couldn't help but stare in shock and awe at the spectacle of Misato chugging a jar of sake in an even more vigorous manner than she did at home, and I thought she was bad at home, the young boy thought while getting slightly queasy just from watching Misato down her alcohol.

Misato got an idea just then, not a very responsible one mind you, but she was drunk and wanted to have some entertainment and a drunk Shinji was the best she could come up with.

"Hey, Shinji, you know this sake is great...", she said while letting the bottle finally rest atop the table, its bottom shaking from the sudden impact of clashing against the table.

"Uh-well, I wouldn't really know about that...", shinji said shyly while looking away.

"In that case, wanna try some?", shinji had fallen right into Misatos trap, she knew he would say that, so she saved a little bit, for whatever reason, Misato found some strange pleasure from knowing exactly how the young boy would act.

Shinji didn't really want to, but he didn't know how to say no to Misato, she had been the to pay for the meal, after all, not to mention, Shinji had never really said no to someone before, so the best he could do was show uncertainty.

"Are you sure? I just don't know-", Shinji was cut off by a continuation of Misatos immature attempt at getting her ward to drink with her.

"It'll be fine, here, I'll get another bottle that we can share.", she said with an impish smile as she raised her hand for a waiters attention, this time a different waiter approached and showed a similar reaction to the two inhabitants of the booth-approaching with a smile but that smile draping as he took in the two-he, however, didn't really have any thoughts about the two and why they might be sitting together, he simply didn't want to deal with them for long, so he simply took their order and left.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Shinji looked on at the bottle that had been placed in front of him with uncertain eyes," Are you really sure about this Misato-san?", he asked while his eyes constantly switched between the bottle and the woman who decided to place it in front of him.

"Don't worry so much Shinji, it's not-belch-gonna kill you", she giggled out while downing what little was left of the other bottle.

" Okay, Misato-san..", he said while taking a sip from the bottle but immediately regretted it as the tastes sloshed around his mouth and slowly seeped into his tongue. Though he refused to spit it out, after all, Misato had specifically bought this just so he could drink it.

Misato had a hell of a time trying to hold in her laugh as Shinji's face began to resemble that of a puffer fish in his attempt to down the potent drink in front of him...the fact that she herself had been the one to put that drink there escaped her at this time.

"So, how was it?", she asked with a smirk on her face.

"Ju-just fine", Shinji replied while wiping his mouth, with a small smile reluctantly finding its way across his face.

" heh, that so...then how about taking up that bottle and drinking a little more, eh hotshot?",she smirked as Shinji gulped and looked back down to the bottle, heh this aint TOO bad, she thought to herself while thinking back to the doubts she had had earlier.

They continued their meal for another hour or two, enjoying their meal and talking, mostly about Misato wanting him to drink some more until it was time to head home and they were well out of food anyway. So they paid their check-well, she did-and went into the parking lot and were making their way when Shinji suddenly felt the call of nature-well, for him, it was more like the door getting kicked down and four armed robbers bursting in-and he decided he needed to alert Misato to this fact.

"Um Misato-san, I'll be right back.", he said sheepishly while heading back inside to use the restroom. He never looked back to see if Misato got his message as he hurried indoors.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

"ahhh...", Shinji sighed as he took what could possibly be the greatest pee of his life and flushed the toilet, drowning his post-drinking spillage.

He washed his hands with a rather large amount of soap-as he was a bit of a germaphobe- and dried off with an

Airdry and went back into the parking lot...only to find that Misato and her car was nowhere in sight.

Where is she? he asked himself but it didn't take for his self-conscious mind to come up for a reasonable response, she had forgotten about him and was already heading home without him.

Shinji simply stood there in the parking lot, letting his thoughts go through him like water through a series of tubes.

she forgot me, she forgot me, she forgot me, she forgot me, she forgot me, he kept thinking that sentence over and over, trying to figure exactly how he felt about it. But as much as he desired to feel so, he could not bring himself to be angered at Misato for forgetting him, it's not like I'm interesting anyway, she was just doing this out of pity I bet, he found it sickeningly easy to think of himself like this, like he was nothing more than trash, like there was nothing good about him, all he did was complain about everything and Misato was the one who had to deal with most of it, yes, this was just her teaching him a lesson.

And with that, Shinji started to look for a place he could stay for the night as he knew that Misato wouldn't be back anytime soon, he wasn't used to this neighborhood as the sushi place was in a different sector of the town. That just proves that she's teaching me a lesson, he thought a little too candidly than he should have.

Eventually, after traveling for a good amount of time looking for a place he could lie down and sleep, he found a small gas station and decided that the bench in front of the small store looked comfortable enough to rest on. He got settled down onto the bench and was struggling to find a good spot when a voice interrupted his attempts.

"Shinji-san?", he looked up only to find Hikari, his class representative, looking down on him.

"Cl-class representative!", he stuttered while feeling his cheeks burn as he sat in an upright position.

"What are you doing here?!", he asked sheepishly, feeling a new wave of embarrassment from being caught acting like a homeless person, and by such a pretty girl too..., he briefly thought before showing those thoughts to the exit as he remembered what he had just learned.

"I was just getting some soup stock because I realized we were out of it.", she explained, getting embarrassed for god knows what reason.

"Oh...", he mumbled at the sheer normalcy of her reasons.

"But what are you doing here, Shinji-Kun", she asked, deciding to take a friendlier stance in her speaking to Shinji.

Shinji noticed the added Kun at the end but decide not to think about it as he said," Getting taught a lesson.", he answered plainly

"Wh-what lesson would that be?", she asked, getting slightly worried about Shinji's wellbeing.

"Mh, never-never mind about it, well the uh-good night I guess.", Shinji said shyly before getting ready to get back to finding a comfortable position, but Hikari wasn't done yet.

"Well, since it doesn't look like you're doing, um, much here, you could join us for dinner?", she asked, not wanting one of the students she was supposed to be in charge of sleeping outside like some homeless person.

"Oh-you...you don't have to, I just ate anyway...", he said, trying his best not to offend Hikari by denying her.

"Oh, I insist, besides you can repay me by helping with the cooking, Toji's told me that you're "a god at it", she said deciding to use her crushes use of words in describing Shinji's cooking capabilities.

"But I already ate.", he said thinking that surely she was only being so insistent because of her duties, and he would be right, but for how long?

"Are you saying that my cooking not good enough to make room in your belly for seconds?", she said with a mock smug attitude.

Shinji, chuckling slightly from Hikari, decided to just go with her and so they made their way into the store first so that they could get the soup stock.

"Umm, so what kind are we looking for, Hikari-san?"

"Oh, we're looking for Rambolis.", she answered as she looked through the shelves.

"That's a pretty good brand, are you sure we would find that at a gas station?", shinji asked, doubting that that would be in a musty old gas station like this, but, what would he really know.

"Honestly I'm not sure, the only reason I decided to go here is that it was close to our house, I couldn't go much farther than here because it's so late", she answered while taking the time to look back at Shinji.

"Oh, why are you eating dinner so late anyway?", Shinji asked, getting rather self-conscious about how many questions he was asking, though, to his great relief, Hikari didn't seem to mind his questions all that much and would continue to answer them.

"My dad is one of the leaders of the repair units so he has to stay late to work out plans and such.", she answered levelly, getting slightly embarrassed that she actually didn't know very much about what her own dad did, well it's not like I need to know, she reasoned to herself.

"Oh, I'm sorry...", he said in a sheepish mutter, hating himself for the inconvenience his piloting set upon the people around him.

"Oh-Oh no-no-no it's not a problem or anything, in fact, it's actually kinda helpful in a way!", she mentally slapped herself, damnit Hikari, great job! she swore at herself.

"Oh, okay, well anyway I hope your dad doesn't get injured because of me.", he said thinking that only he would be the only pilot who would cause an accident, he also decided that he would need to apologize to Hikari's father personally whenever he got the chance.

"Yeah, thanks Shinji-Kun", she replied not knowing how to feel about Shinji's need to always apologize.

They eventually found the soup stock and headed back to the Horaki family house, with Shinji-to his own insistence-holding the bag on the way back.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

"This is your house!?", Shinji exclaimed with a mix of utter awe and disbelief, nearly dropping the small bag he held in his hand.

The house really wasn't anything special, but Shinji wasn't used to a house that was more than 5 rooms at the max. The house was two stories and held about 18 or so rooms.

"Is-is it really that great", Hikari asked, feeling her cheeks burn slightly from Shinji's praise of the home she had lived in all her life.

Shinji noticed himself and immediately quieted down and mumbled sorry again.

Hikari, being sad that she had inadvertently ruined Shinji's mood, told him that it was okay and Shinji nodded in response.

"Here, let me ring the doorbell", Hikari said as she went up to the door and rang the bell.

A dull ringing noise came from the inside of the house, followed by numerous small footsteps making their way to the door and unlocking it.

"Hey, Hikari finally got back-", the small girl who looked about 11 was going to continue to tease her sister before she laid eyes on the confused and timid boy standing behind her.

"Oh my god, Kodama! Hikari brought a boy home!", the girl screeched before heading back inside to search for her sister.

"Who-Who...", was all that Shinji was able to get out from the effect that the child had left in her wake. His cheeks a bright scarlet from her comment.

" That was Nozumi, Shinji-Kun", Hikari said trying her best not to think of her sister's unorthodox attitude.

Without another word, the two made their way inside.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

"Wow, you're into shy boys, Hikari, well whatever, its an improvement to that oaf of a jock you had for a crush", Kodama said sitting down at the table, waiting for the pair to finish cooking while trimming her nails.

To Hikari's behest, Shinji tried his best to ignore the eldest sisters comments and continued helping Hikari with cooking, though that first task was proving a challenge...Hikari, however, wasted no time in striking back to her sister's comments.

"He's not an oaf, besides your last boyfriend tried to hit on me.", Hikari stated, paying extra attention so as to not mention Tojis name.

" That why I broke up with that asshole", Kodama said, thinking back in bitter resentment to her old boyfriends "antics", and hoping that Hikari doesn't land in such position, especially if it's with her first boyfriend. That's why she was pushing Shinji so much, the guys seem really nice, pretty cute too..., she thought offhandedly.

The two continued to bicker until the door opened and in stepped possibly the largest man Shinji had ever seen, he wasn't fat, no, he was pure muscle, and his name as Shinji would soon learn was Yama.

" Hey dad", all three Hikari sisters said in unison, and they wasted no time in explaining why Shinji was there.

"Dad, Hikari brought a boy home!", Nozumi chirped as she ran up to give the mountain of a man a hug.

" That so...", Yama said while raising one of his eyebrows at Shinji and Hikari, causing the prior to nearly shrink from it.

What Yama was doing was a sort of appraisal of Shinji, seeing how he looked, how it looked like he acted, of course, this was far from full proof, as was proven from Kodama's last boyfriend in a startlingly large list of them.

And so far Shinji was...an unknown, he didn't look bad, but didn't look exactly nice either.

He would need to continue to watch him.

"Welcome to our home...", Yama said as he put his worker gear on a coat rack and headed towards the kitchen to further greet his guest.

"Um, I just wanna say sorry", Shinji said in the most sure-of-him-self voice that he could muster when facing such a man.

"hm, for what?" Yama inquired.

"Well...I'm...I'm the pilot who makes your work so hard...", Shinji said sheepishly, letting his uncertainness overwhelm him.

"Are you now?" Yama said while his eyes opened ever so slightly, he then went over to the shy Shinji and proceded to plant his giant hand on top of his head.

"It's a heavy burden you bear, Shinji was it, I am happy to welcome you to our home", he said while ruffling Shinji's hair lightly while giving the boy a small but warm smile, Yama decided that Shinji was a good one.

"Uh-we-hm-ha", Shinji gargled out in confusion with everyone breaking into small laughing as Shinji regained his composure.

" Now aren't you a cute one Mr.Hero", Kodama chirped out, thinking that Hikari got a hell of a catch, if only she got over that damn jock, she thought.

"Huh...um, dinners ready", Shinji changed the subject as he asked where the dishes were.

"Top left drawer", Nozumi chimed in while getting off the couch and heading to the dinner table.

" Thanks, Nozumi-san", Shinji said as he went over to get the dishes.

Carefully, Shinji set the plates down on top of the table and went to help Hikari with the food.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Everyone was sitting at the table, with the Horaki's especially enjoying the addition to the usual dinner. It was then that Shinji remembered that he should probably leave a voice mail so that Misato could come to pick him up in the morning."Excuse me, sir, can I use the phone?",Shinji asked Yama.

"Yes, but why?"

"Well, I figured I should tell my guardian where I am.", he said while getting up, Shinji had a strange feeling, he felt...comfortable at this house, he couldn't tell why, but he liked it here. But before he could give Misato a voice-mail Kodama had a question to ask.

"Oh yeah, Hey Shinji, you never really told us why you were out there, I mean, what kind of explanation is "learning a lesson"., Kodama may have asked this lightheartedly but she was actually feeling pangs of concerns for the boy she had just met, Shinji just kinda "fit in" was the best way she could put it.

"Well, I was out eating with my guardian...", he paused briefly to look at all their faces which all seemed to be saying go on... so he continued.

"And she started to drink a lot and she told me...to drink with her...", he felt a potent wave of shame looking back on what happened and decided to look once more at the people whos home he had invaded upon's faces, and he saw anger and disapproval in their eyes, but it wasn't directed at him no, it was towards his guardian.

"and?", Kodama more demanded than asked, all while starting to feel a small wave of resentment towards this supposed guardian of Shinji, some guardian, she gaped, making him drink with her.

"Well when we were done, we left the restaurant but I had to go to the bathroom so I told Misato that I was going, but when I got back, she was gone.",he said while jamming his hands into his pockets so that he couldn't fidget with his fingers.

"Who is this guardian exactly", Yama asked Shinji once he was done clearing his monstrous throat.

"Oh well, I'm sorry, I can't tell you, sir.", Shinji said while having the familiar feeling that he was trash for saying no to the person who had welcomed him of all people into his home, but he really couldn't, it eas Nerv personal data.

"It's okay.", Yama said while starting to grow fond of the boy as well. He was a shy boy, but he had a good heart, that was what Yama thought of Shinji.

Shinji took that as a sign to go ahead and go to the phone, leaving the remaining tables inhabitants to discuss the story they had just heard.

" What the hell kind of guardian is that!?", Kodama fumed in as hushed a voice as she could muster, she wasn't sure exactly why she was fluent about Shinji's guardian, but she chalked it up to the fact that she was studying for being a foster manager.

"language", Yama snapped, to which Kodama immediately apologized, she did not want to be on her fathers shit-list.

" I don't think we should let him go home tonight, not that kind of guardian anyway.", Hikari stated to her family who was nodding in agreement, though two of them, in particular, had to hold back the potent urge to tease Hikari for her newfound concern for the boy.

"Yeah, he can sleep in one of your rooms.", Nozumi said in some sort of slick-and-easy attitude.

" No, he'll be sleeping on our couch", stated Yama in a no-nonsense voice, it was the kind of that they knew meant that there was no arguing to be had with it.

"Okay, I'm back.", shinji said as he sat back down the table.

" how'd it go?", Hikari asked.

"She didn't pick up so I left a voicemail.", he said only to see all of their faces grow a tinge darker.

bitch...

bitch...

irresponsible...

unacceptable...

Each of them had an opinion on this supposed guardian of Shinji's and they weren't flattering, to say the least.

" So that means that you don't have a place to stay, correct?",Yama asked.

"Yeah, I'll figure something out so please don't worry.", he didn't want to be any more of a burden on these people than he already was.

"Don't worry, how are we not supposed to worry about our guest? You know what, how about you sleep on our couch out in the living room?", Kodama said while pointing towards the living room.

" Are you sure...", Shinji asked as he saw all of their heads wave up and down in agreement.

"Here I'll help you get the pillows", all three of the horaki sisters chimed in as they led Shinji to the closet.

As the 4 of them went into the storage area to get pillows and blankets, Yama noticed how much Shinji looked like them. Sorta like they're all related, he mused silently to himself.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Shinji lay on the couch with his back feeling rather muggy from having the feeling of couch cushions on it.

I need to repay them, Shinji thought, and so he decided that he would wake up early and cook and clean.. so basically what he always does anyway.

And with that, Shinji slowly closed his eyes as he fell into slumber with three blankets and three pillows smothering him.
