Toph was still overcome by grief when the boat left the dock on the river. Presently she was standing near the edge of the boat her head over the side she was looking down on the water; well she would be if she could see. It had been decided that what was left of the Aang Gaang would look for Azula in the earth nation.
"TOPH!" Katara screamed from further on deck.
"What do you want Queenie?" Toph asked leaning against the rail.
I don't mean to sound like your mom but you shouldn't be so close to the rail, you might fall in." Katara shrugged. Toph groaned and lay on the deck; Aang came over and sat on the deck next to Toph.
"How are you holding up?"
"I can still see his eyes when I sleep. And it seems like every time I begin to get better I see Azula's grin. But other than that I'm fine!"
"Are you sure? No regrets or anything."
"I only regret that I couldn't save him."
"Monk Giatsu once told me that it's not about what you could have done, it's about what we do."
"Look Aang, not that I don't appreciate the eternal wisdom of the Avatar but, I need to get some cake and find something to hit."
Toph wandered down the galley of the boat where she found the cook baking something.
"What's that?" She asked
"A potato cake." The cook answered sprinkling some salt into a pan. " Here, it'll make you feel better." The cook said handing Toph a plate of the flat cake. Toph wandered around the bottom floor of the ship eating the cake. Toph sat at the edge of the boat ignoring what Katara had said eating a particularly salty part of the cake. Her eye began to twitch as she came to a shocking revelation.
"There's no sugar in this cake. THERE'S NO SUGAR IN THIS CAKE!" Toph hurled the cake into the river and yelled.
"WHAT?!" Aang yelled. Toph grabbed the orange part of his Airbender tunic and shook him with amazing force for a 12-year-old.
"Need sugar NOW!" Toph yelled. Katara came in and looked at the situation.
"She figured out there isn't sugar in the potato cake didn't she?"
"Yup" Aang replied.
"She's using sugar to fill the void left by Sokka isn't she?"
"Yup." Aang said.
Toph turned her head to the area from which Katara's voice came from.
"No psychoanalyzing my sugar habit need cake with frosting Queenie!" Toph said.
"I think we should stop at the next city." Katara said.
"Ya THINK! Toph yelled.
In a few short hours the boat reached a small town, Toph scoured the town for a cake stand to no avail.
"Look," Aang finally said "A chocolate shop." He pointed to a small red building with two words that made Toph as happy as she had been in the last few days. Free Cake Samples.
"Let's go." Toph yelled.
Inside the shop was a Chocoholic in rehabs worst nightmare. Free samples everywhere and three whole rooms of chocolate. Katara had a bag of milk chocolate wrapped up for her and Aang but, simultaneously in the room over Aang had a bag of heart shaped raspberry filled milk chocolates wrapped up. Toph started in the back looking around the stacks of chocolate and sweets. After she finished in the first room she moved on to the second room, she found the second room was full of chocolate based alcohol. She hunted around for a while and found the only thing she might buy was a bottle of chocolate vodka. Toph figured she had better get some really damn good cake in the third room ore something was going to die. When she reached the third room she went up the clerk and asked about the cake, a few seconds later a crash was heard coming from the third room, Aang and Katara ran in and saw the clerk in the chocolate fountain.
"a GOOD store UPDATES THEIR ADVERTIZEMENTS!!!!" Toph yelled. She stalked off holding the chocolate vodka. As the trio left the store Aang asked Toph what was the matter and she replied sourly.
"The sign is three weeks old."
