Here it is! Another new story released on my birthday!

Ryou: I hope you had a good day.

Eh...it was ok I guess.

Yugi: Enjoy!

Yugi sighed as he left his home to meet up with Ryou and Malik. He had tried to talk Yami into going with him, but the Dark refused saying he had other plans. All that he did was play video games and laze about or hang out with the others. Yugi and the other two Lights had decided that they needed a break from their yamis.

Today, they were going to the museum and having a mini sleepover. Tomorrow, the three of them were going to leave early in the morning to camp out in the woods. They were hoping to prove to their Darks that they couldn't survive the weekend without the three Lights.

Malik had invited Yugi and Ryou to the museum to see a rare intact statue of an Egyptian goddess. This particular statue had been found buried in a temple dedicated to the goddess Bastet. Yugi was eager to see it, but now it just reminded him of Yami and depressed him.

"Cats are so lucky," Ryou sighed. "'Kura pays more attention to cats than he does me. I hate to say that I miss the old days with him. I'd rather have him mad at me than ignoring me all the time."

Yugi nodded, "Even Yami has time for cats. He'd drop everything for one but suddenly has no time when I ask him if he wants to hang out with me."

"Same here," Malik agreed.

They left the museum, unaware of glowing green cat eyes.

That night, the Lights locked Yugi's windows to keep two of the three Darks out. Yami could unlock Yugi's door using a key that opened some of the other doors in the house. The trio played games, watched movies, and snacked on the stash of treats Yugi had stockpiled. They fell asleep on the floor, using a pile of pillows and blankets as a makeshift bed.

Yugi was in the middle with Ryou on his left and Malik on his right.

Not long after they had fallen into a deep sleep a figure appeared. It looks like a cross between a cat and human. "Just like my children," she whispered to a grey cat in her arms. "Soon they will be among my children."

"Mrow?"

She smiled at her companion. "You will have six new brothers if their other souls fail my trials. These three are perfect in every way."

She sat the cat down near the boys' heads. "The time is right, ?. We will begin. None have angered me so much by placing their Light Souls so far below my own children. The Dark Souls will learn to treasure them or they will be mine forever."

The smoky grey cat approached the face of Malik and placed a paw on his shoulder, breathing in his face and beginning the process. She repeated this twice more as her mistress chanted the words to the spell of change.

When they were done, three kittens lay on the blankets, mewling for each other's warmth. The cat-woman knelt down, "Don't fret, my children. All will be right one way or the other. Those charged with protecting you will either take care of you and break my enchantment or fail and be as you are until I say otherwise. None angers Bastet and escapes without a trial."

Bastet gently placed the three kittens together and smiled as they settled down. These three were truly her best of this century. The smallest was a rare male calico, his fur in patches of black, white, yellow, orange, and brown. The one on his left was a snowy-white persian kitten. Her last 'child' was a sandy-colored kitten. The grey cat gently pressed her nose to each kitten's forehead, sealing the enchantment, before returning to her mother. "Be well, my son's. Your Dark Souls' trials begin in the morning."

I will try to get 'Free Flight' updated soon.

Yugi: Until next time!
