Once Was Quite Enough
From Jack Sparrow's Point of View
There she was, near Barbossa
A beauty as anyone could see
She said goodbye to each of them
As she got closer to me.
My heart sped out of control
For I knew what she'd do on that beach
For a second, I wished to be Will Turner
Then I'd have her in my reach.
I had dreamed of her and I
One day standing side by side
I would've bathed (for once in my life)
Then she'd become my bride.
Oh God, she's getting closer
What ever shall I say?
"Elizabeth, I love you
Will you please decide to stay?"
I glance down quickly
For I can not meet her eyes
If I looked at her honestly
She's probably see the lies.
She tells me that
It would have never worked out
Well, I have a line for her
That might put her in doubt.
"Keep telling yourself that darling"
I say without fear
I hope there is no sadness in my voice
That she is able to hear.
She takes a step closer
Oh God, she's gonna do it again
I remember so vividly last time
When she left me for the Kraken.
I stop her
Although it's hard for me to do
I realize I shall never tell her I love her
And see if she loved me too.
I try to gather courage
And try to act tough
However, there's a quiver in my voice as I say
"Once was quite enough".
