Cecil had fallen asleep about halfway through the movie. To be fair, though, so had Carlos.
Once Cecil's head had fallen against Carlos's shoulder, Carlos laid his own head on top of Cecil's, letting the man's hair tickle his cheek. There was no way that Carlos could have hoped to stay awake for at least another hour in such a comfortable position. So that's how they slept through most of the night.
That is, until Carlos woke up around midnight. Stretching slightly, Carlos noticed that Cecil's head was still leaning on his shoulder, so he carefully shook the other man's shoulder in hope of waking him.
"Cecil," Carlos called softly. "Let's go to bed, sweetie." But there was no response except for a slight shift of his head. Carlos tried again.
"Come on, Cecil. It's really late, and we both have work tomorrow."
This time, Cecil opened his eyes slightly and peered at Carlos. Closing them again, Cecil murmured something that Carlos thought sounded like, "Don't wanna get up."
Carlos chuckled and asked, "Do you want me to carry you?" to which, Cecil nodded sleepily.
"Okay, but you'll have to get on my back." It's not that Carlos wasn't strong; he definitely was, and could probably pick Cecil up anyday, as long as that day was actually day and not past midnight after a long day of work and falling asleep for a few hours during a movie.
Cecil nodded his agreement and Carlos stood up from the couch, but then squatted in front of it, giving his boyfriend time to cling to his neck and wrap his legs around his waist. Carlos stood up slowly, using his arms to push off from the sofa, which wasn't hard considering that he didn't have to hold onto Cecil, who was currently holding on for dear life, not very different from the way a koala holds on to its mother.
Carlos couldn't hold back a smile, as he let his arms swing by his sides and open their bedroom door, not needing to worry about keeping his boyfriend on his back. Carefully, Carlos turned so his back was to the bed and told Cecil to drop. Cecil did so, completely trusting Carlos to have brought him to the bed and not telling him to drop onto the bathroom floor or something.
Falling soundly onto the bed, Cecil giggled quietly and sleepily rolled over to face Carlos's side of the bed just as the man in question laid down next to him. Cecil threw his arm over Carlos's chest and tucked his head in the crook of his neck; the same position that they had been in on the sofa. And together, they fell asleep again.
Imagine Person A carrying Person B to bed and Person B clinging to Person A all koala-like.
