He was really not enjoying this: college thing. He had asked to go, claiming to want education, to make him a better ruler someday... In reality, he just wanted to see Oz before he was locked into the Vinkus forever.
Apparently, that was not the best decision he ever made.
He felt outcasted, something he'd never experienced before- in his tribe he was a prince... yet he couldn't help but notice he was the only Vinkun student at Shiz. Most everyone seemed to be either of Gillikin or Munchkinlander birth, or of the Emerald City.
So he was very much alone.
He couldn't tolerate the feeling of being stuck inside. He had never enjoyed it, and at home he enjoyed being able to sneak out often..
Actually, maybe... He quickly slid out of his bed. It was late- that time when it could be argued to be late night and early morning. He knew it was far too late to be caught breaking curfew.
He susposed sleeping Shiz was rather pretty. He could appreciate the architecture and the well-kept grounds now that he was alone and didn't have to deal with all of the odd looks. He susposed it was a bit too dark to look at it- there was no moon, and he could hardly see his hand in front of his face.
He listened to the crickets chirping, and quickly realised he heard a voice, singing it's own melody. Feminine. He didn't recogize the tune, but knew she was good, not trained, but a natural, unrefined good. Looking hard, he was able to pick out a figure against the shadows.
"Miss?"
"Oh!" The song stopped. "How long have you been there?"
"Long enough to have reason to compliment your singing voice. Are you a music student?"
"No. Life Sciences." He strained to try to see her form- He couldn't. "And you?"
"Business." He wondered if it was a good thing he couldn't see her- it meant she couldn't see him either. He wouldn't be the 'Winkie Tribal Prince'. "Miss, isn't it late for a young woman to be out alone."
"I don't abide gender roles. I see no reason why it's any more wrong for me to be out alone than for you to be. So why are you out this late?"
"I suspect the same as you- I couldn't sleep."
"I wanted to be alone."
He would not be stopped. "A nobel goal- though it doesn't seem to be working."
"If you left, it would be a very easy goal."
"However I have just as much right to be here as you. And what if I said my goal was to not be alone."
"I would tell you to wait a few hours, and then the grounds would be full of peope, and I'm sure you could find a companian."
She turned on her heel once she finished, and walked off toward one of the dorms. He wouldn't be stopped that easily. He was enjoying the argument. So he followed her.
"Sir, I would appreciate it if stopped."
"But miss-" She entered a dorm- Crage Hall, the Girls' school.
"You can't follow me up." She stepped into the dim light the building offered. He held in a gasp when he realised the girl had light green skin- he vaguely recognized her from his Life Sciences class. "Your highness," She said, sarcasticly.
"Miss Thropp." That was her, Elphaba Thropp.
The lingered for a moment, perhaps because they realised that under their skin, they weren't really that differant from the rest of Shiz- or each other.
