Author's note: Hey everyone! This is actually my first Fanfic ever! It's a Space themed AU of RWBY that just kinda popped in my head one day. While White rose is like, my ultimate OTP, the way I think this story is going is leading it towards freezerburn/ladybug pairings. Oh well! I hope you all enjoy! Chapters will be released weekly on Fridays. the time may vary but it will always be on a Friday. Thanks for reading 3

Chapter 1: Trust

"The mission was a success." Weiss reported. The statement was merely a formality as there was never much of a chance that the team even could fail their task.

"The dust pickup was arranged and carried out without any problems, Sir."

Weiss stood at attention nervously on the ships bridge. Even though the success of her mission was obviously good news, she always had a difficult time reading her Captain's mood. Captain Ozpin was an enigma, not only to Weiss, but to the entire crew of the U.R.V. Beacon. His face was always cool, calm, collected and very rarely showed any sign of emotion. To most of the crew, he was an invisible force that only appeared when crucial decisions were to be made. To Weiss, the commander of the vessel, second in command only to Ozpin, he was infuriating. Not in a direct way, of course but, rather in a sense that no matter how hard Weiss tried, she could never understand what was going on in his mind. And there was always something going on there. The gears were constantly moving, Weiss could see that. Yet, she couldn't tell what they were powering. This often led to discrepancies between the two. Weiss would often make calls in a mission that she thought Ozpin would appreciate and would earn her praise. However, during the mission debriefings, he would always point out some minute detail of her commanding that wasn't ideal. This constant criticism was the bane of Weiss's sanity. Today was no different.

"No problems?" Ozpin stared down at Weiss with the faintest hint of a smirk on his face. "You're certain not a single thing went wrong down there?"

Weiss took in a deep breath. She knew this whole drill. She knew he had already found something wrong and was testing her to see if she could find it as well. She had to remain calm. If she were to start getting nervous, that would practically hand victory over to him, and there was no way Weiss could admit defeat that easily.

A small bead of sweat dripped down her neck. "What had happened?" she thought to her self as she ran over the events of the mission in her head.

"I filed all the appropriate paper work plenty of time in advance. I spoke to the suppliers myself and arranged everything. I disembarked in a timely manner and touched down on the surface near the mining facility and made the exchange personally! What could he possibly think is wrong?

"I don't understand, Sir." Weiss answered confused. "I personally ensured that the entire mission was flawless! I made sure I did everything I could do to guarantee perfection!" She had slipped. She had let her frustration show and the small glint of a smile across Ozpin's face drove home the fact that he had won.

"Can't you hear the problem with your story?"

"I... I don't understand? I only spoke the truth."

"No doubt." Ozpin shook his head slowly. "I want you to rethink your story and count the number of times you used the word 'I'" The Captain turned around facing his back to Weiss. "Do you see all of these people on this ship?" he said gesturing to the various crew members working away on their individual monitors. "You're Commander Weiss Schnee. I expect you to command and not simply do everything yourself. We're soldiers; trust in your brothers and sisters in arms is vital to our goals and YOU don't seem to have any trust for anyone besides your self."

Weiss cringed. She knew all of this was completely true. She thought that she was improving at least a little bit. She even allowed a subordinate to send the Pick-up confirmation to the dust mine after she had typed it up!

Captain Ozpin sighed, turning around to face Weiss. "Yes the mission was a success. Good job. However, I trust you will find time to improve, Commander Schnee." The captain then turned around and began walking towards the Command Office. "You are dismissed."

"Yes Sir." Weiss said before walking towards the elevator to return to her quarters.

A rusty yellow transport ship barreled through Vale Space, barely holding itself together with do-it-your-self welding on all the seams.

"We got a job Rubes! A real, paying job!" The pilot of the vessel shouted behind her, not looking out the cracked window. She had long, full, and thick blonde hair that was currently a mess. And was dressed in unkempt, cheap clothes "We may be able to afford a new windshield for ol' Bumblebee here!"

"I know! Since our last one ended so horribly, I didn't think we'd ever get hired again!" Ruby was much shorter than her blonde sister. In fact, they didn't look anything alike. Ruby was much fairer in complexion and had short dark hair with a slight splash of red. She wore similar clothing to Yang, cheap and slightly dirty. All except for the red hooded cape she always kept near.

"One question though! Do we reeeeeally have to take on a URV Navy ship?" Ruby asked her sister, drumming on her shoulders from behind. "I mean, its not that I doubt our skills 'cause we're awesome! Its just..."

"You're nervous that we'll blow it again like we did utterly and entirely last time?" Yang said with a smile.

"Well... Yeah. I mean, last time it was just some small time mercs we stole from. You know, little guys! But this... this is an official United Republic of Vale military ship! We could get in serious trouble here!" Ruby's usually bright expression began to drop at the thought of failing.

"Don't worry about it! Your big sis knows what she's doing!" Yang turned her head towards Ruby and gave a big smile. She wasn't to sure if this job would go smoothly either, but she wouldn't let her sister see that. Yang knew that their funds were low. Ruby knew it too but she didn't know that if they didn't get money soon, they would be forced to go into hiding.

For their last job, although the target was small time mercenaries, the contractor was a pretty scary dude as far as Yang knew. She had heard of situations where he didn't get exactly what he wanted and hired hitmen to take out those who wronged him. The sisters failed mission cost him several hundred-thousand credits as well as him not getting what he wanted. Yang didn't even want to think about what would happen if they couldn't get the money to pay him back.

"Just trust me a little. Okay Ruby?" Yang patted her sister on the head and returned to guiding the ship.

Ruby's chipper demeanor returned quickly. "Yeah! Of course! All we have to do is sneak on board, grab the Dust, and get out before they even know we're there. This should be nothing!"

"Keep that attitude up for at least a little while longer, 'cause I think I see our mark" Yang pointed out of the window at a massive ship. On the sides of the hull read :

U.R.V. Beacon

The dark cargo bay of the military vessel was a perfect place for a Faunus to hide. Having characteristics similar to animals allowed many of them to see very well in the dark. Their hearing was also above that of humans which made a dark environment very advantageous. Blake knew this as she hid out in the dark underbelly of the ship. Her mission was simple. The U.R.V. Beacon was en route to pick up a large shipment of dust from an off-world Vale mining colony. Her mission as a member of the White Fang was to discretely take the Dust and swap it out for a high powered explosive created by White Fang researchers.

Blake could feel the weight of the small bomb in her pocket. Although it hardly weighed more than a small rock, the thought of the destruction it could cause weighed a ton.

Blake had been a member of the White Fang for almost as long as she could remember. When she joined, they were a small group of Faunus who were tired of the human's empire controlling them without consideration. Faunus had remained an independent species on their own planet for thousands of years until humans began expanding their range. Humans may have labeled themselves as different republics or federations but to the faunus, and most importantly, to the White Fang, they were all the same. An empire taking what wasn't theirs.

However, the White Fang had changed. Or at least in Blake's thoughts it did. What was once peaceful was now horribly violent. What were once diplomatic meetings became bloody skirmishes. Blake had decided that this was it, the last thing she would do before leaving for good.

The small communicator in her ear crackled on. "Miss Belladonna, why is it that you're taking so long? You wouldn't happen to be hesitating would you?"

"No sir." Blake Lied. "I'm just waiting for the best opportunity"

It was no secret among the officials of the White Fang that Blake no longer approved of their actions. She frequently voiced her opinions at meeting and fought against their often violent decisions. Yet she always ended up doing them anyway. Not after this though. This was the last time.

"You need to hurry up. The longer you're in there the more likely you'll be found" the voice over the communicator said with a hint of frustration.

"Understood. It will get done. Trust me."

Blake pulled a small remote out of a pocket. This was the key to the missions success. This remote would call her ship to a location just underneath the cargo bay of the Beacon. She would extend the docking bay, transfer the dust, and swap out the bomb all in one smooth motion. Her ship was a stealth fighter, just large enough carry her and her cargo. With it, she would be able to escape completely undetected. However, once she called her ship, she needed to be ready. There was no room for any mistakes.

Blake to a slow, deep breath in and pressed the button.
