Pairing: ...one-sided Anders/Fenris

Not in your life

By: DahkPanda

There was that one time of day when the Hanged Man was quiet, just one time. It happened a little before opening, when half the population were either getting ready for work, or the people in their drunken stupor were still unconscious. It was the only time that a few drunkards could still sit by and waste their hard earned coin to drink so early in the morning.

It was a time when Hawke would come down and sit with Varric to come up with her daily plans and get information of things they needed to do for the people, and not her desk where the majority of the time it was the nobility that sought help. Because of this, Corff was given coin to get breakfast and get the cook to make Hawke's company breakfast. It was good coin, and a quick and easy task that Corff can do for the tavern.

Anders was a little surprised this day, the fact that he somehow got here earlier than Hawke. Heck, even Varric or Isabela were not there at the moment. The only person that was there was...annoyingly...Fenris.

Fenris was sitting across from him, polishing the greatsword that Hawke managed to find for him at one point during their travels. It was a blade that even Anders could admit that it was pretty, if not a bit intimidating when being wielded.

The arm that was bringing that sword to a polished shine wasn't too bad either. Anders would probably kick himself harshly if he ever said that out loud. It wasn't the fact that Anders didn't find Fenris himself attractive, in fact he found the elf to be astonishingly beautiful in the gruff and stoic sense. Ever since Justice bonded with him, he didn't really see anybody as male or female, he just found himself fond of the attractive...

Justice's love of objects made of lyrium didn't help, and with the lyrium tattoos, Fenris made him feel like a moth to a candlelight.

"What is it, mage?" Fenris managed to break the silence.

Though Fenris wasn't looking at him though Anders suddenly realized that he had been staring, maybe oogling a little too long. Anders flinched a little and sat back, looking to his drink, though his eyes went back to those lyrium tattooed arms once more. Perhaps maybe...he could try something? Perhaps try to find a way to help Fenris, and get rid of his hatred towards mages? Perhaps get close enough to Fenris to try something, maybe even Fenris accustomed to flirting?

"I was actually wondering, Fenris..." Anders stated, flinching lightly to the bitterness at the name. "Perhaps I could help you with..."

"No" Fenris states flat out.

Anders pause, letting himself blink for a moment while he had his mouth open. "What?"

"I know what you are thinking, Mage. 'I can help with the lyrium tattoos to get closer to the brooding elf' and I say 'No' to that..."

"...N-no, I wasn't thinking of that..." Anders states, though lied terribly. "...How'd you come up with that idea?"

"You were staring, and all mages seem to stare intently for a few minutes before they want my shirt off and 'stroke their hands over the tattoos' to feel the lyrium...The answer is no" Fenris was looking at him now, his hand still polishing the sword.

"But..."

Fenris held his sword up by then, both hands on the hilt. "No."

Anders frowned a little, and moved to another seat, and just chose to ignore the elf from there on...

I wanted to make this only a quick two paragraphs, but it ended up much longer. Ahh well. This was more of a joke fic that I came up with while speaking to a friend.
