Just a little oneshot of Jack thinking about his team, especially Gwen.

Being the leader of this team of reprobates is, by turns, funny, satisfying and sometimes downright frustrating. They're all so different, which is why they work so well together. As I sit here in my office, I can see them all. And the things I know about them.
Ianto, quiet, efficient and yet he's got hidden depths that we can only guess at, and I'm not just thinking about the whole "I've got a half-converted Cyberwoman in the basement" fiasco. I hope he'll stay on with us. He may be a bit odd, but he's a great guy and does a fantastic job at Torchwood. I wonder if a raise would help………
Tosh, a computer genius, albeit to the exclusion of a real personal life outside of drinks with the rest of the team. Great girl, but a bit closed off, even for Torchwood. But then, I can't say that out loud without being called hypocritical. I mean, I'm not exactly an open book. But Tosh is opening up slowly. Like the other week, when we found out about her little crush on Owen. That was awkward, especially after he came out with that stuff about his last kiss being Gwen.
Which I'm not too happy about. It's not that I disapprove of inter-departmental relationships, because that would stop my plans straight away, it's more that I disapprove of inter-departmental relationships between Gwen and Owen. Anyone else, fine. But I kinda wanted to get to know Gwen better myself.
Since being brought back from the dead, ordinary touches have lost their potency. The crisp, cold air in the morning isn't as crisp and cold now, and my senses seem dulled when I'm not running on the adrenaline of a mission. So why did one touch from Gwen bring everything into sharp relief? At the hospital when I took her hand and told her to run it was like having a bucket of cold water thrown over me. If I'm honest (which I rarely am, I admit) then I would say that I asked her to join us so that I could explore this new feeling a bit more. I don't think I'd have asked her otherwise. She was too human for us, even with Owen on the team.
Looking down on her now, working in harmony with the others, I can see that it may have been the best decision I've made yet here in Cardiff, because we need the human outlook more than ever nowadays. But, sadly, a decision that good came with one just as bad:
Best decision: Asking Gwen to join Torchwood.
Worst decision: Letting her and Owen go off into the woods together last week.
Idiot. Idiot. Idiot.
