Chapter 1 – A Stupid Nightmare

"So… you've finally arrived. It takes a lot of guts for people like you to face me. But then again… you carry the very thing many men took in order to do that. Though I suffered many defeats, none could kill me. You don't have what it takes to finish the war between Power, Wisdom and Courage."

Two warriors were facing each other. One was a man in dark clothes… much bigger than the other who wore mostly green. They were both carrying swords, each on their left hand. Silence filled the air for a long time. The one in green rushed towards the other, his sword ready to attack. The one in dark stood there… waiting as if he wanted to be attacked. When the one in green was close enough, the one in dark simply struck him with his sword, right at his heart. The one in green's mind blacked out.

It was a beautiful sunny morning at Kakariko village. Barely. It was nearly twelve o'clock at the afternoon, and most of the villagers were up and about. One particular villager, Link, wasn't. His nightmare kept him awake for most of the night… it always has.

"Link! Get out of bed already… it's nearly time."

Link simply groaned. He lifted his head up, struggling to wake himself up. He was finally sitting on his bed, after two minutes of struggle. His mind was filled with that nightmare. Why was he having it every night? Why was he fighting the dark figure? And why was he dressed in green? Those questions were unimportant. He had to get ready for the festival, so he walked out of his room to see that it was his little sister calling him. Her name was Sian, and she was about two years younger than him. Really, she was the only family he had. His parents died of mysterious circumstances when Sian was just a baby. Link had no other family, and was forced to move to Kakariko Village to live a life as normal as possible. Though, this was not very successful.

First of all, Link couldn't even talk. This made the villagers feel a little too much sympathy for him, right up to today. Not many of them knew that he was already 16.

But the other reason was far more worrying for Link. That dream.

"Link? Are you ok?"

Link snapped back to reality. "Oh… yeah. I'm fine, Sian."

"It's that nightmare again, isn't it?"

Link nodded his head. There was no point in denying it. Sian knew that Link was having these dreams. "Link, you really need to learn how to confront that dream one day… Otherwise…"

"The dream will keep haunting me all my life," Link said. "I know… but I can't do it."

Twelve bells were heard ringing, startling Link. "Aw crap, the festival's about to start!" He ran off, feeling rather hungry, completely unaware that he was still in his pyjamas.
