Don't own Death Note or L, though I wish I did J

This is just some fluff from L and an OC I made up.

Afraid Of The Storm

Salam has been at Wammys for three years, she was now 10 years old and growing; all the children were different in their own way, but for some reason she seemed to be the most odd. She didn't talk to anyone, no one talked to her, and she was alone in everyway. Yes she looked a lot different from everyone else there, two bright blue green eyes, natural white hair, pale skin, and black hair that was unruly. People avoided her like a illness; but she could see their hearts, their fears, hopes, likes, dislikes, and dreams. You wouldn't believe how many people in this orphanage had bed intentions; they all seemed to sense that she was dangerous and should be avoided.

L`s POV

I am 17 years old now, after finishing a case in the states, I was back at Wammys to stay for some time; at least until a new case presented itself.

"Good evening L," Rodger said greeting me at my return.

"Hello Rodger, its good to see you." It was good to be back in a familiar home and not a hotel room.

"I see that you are well, that's good."

After saying hello to everyone and telling Rodger about the case, I was in my room looking out the window into the on coming storm. This was suppose to be the worst storm of the season.

CRASH!

The first crash of thunder was loud, and the lightening followed in a bright flash lighting up my room.

I decided to take a walk around the halls, all the children would be in their rooms or asleep so I probably wouldn't run into anyone.

BOOM! CRASH!

I stopped in the kitchen to get a quick snack, but once I got there I saw something I would have never expected to see.

There was a small pale girl sitting under the table with her knees to her chest and her tiny hands over her ears, her face buried in her knees.

It takes a lot to surprise me, but this did shock me at the moment.

What was this little girl doing up?

I reached under the table and touched her tiny shaking shoulder, she gasp and her head snapped up from her knees. She was beautiful, big blue green eyes, white hair, and adorable features.

"Hello," I said to her as she stared shocked at me.

She didn't say anything she just continued to stare at me, she had black bags under her eyes just like me; another insomniac it seems. I held my hand out to her to help her up.

All she did was look at my hand but after a few moment she took it and I helped her out. I was very pale, but she seemed to be paler than I, her hand was so small in mine.

"What's your name?" I asked as she stood up fully, the top of her head only reaching the middle of my torso.

"Salam." She said quietly.

"Its nice to meet you, I am L." I expected her to ramble on about all she knew about me and how awesome I seemed to be. But she didn't.

"Its nice to meet you Mr. L," she said looked down at her bare feet.

CRASH!

Salam jumped in fear, than flinched like she was electrocuted.

"Are you afraid of the storm?" I smiled a little to myself.

"Y-Yes," she whispered looking anywhere but at me.

"Why didn't you go stay in a friends room?"

"I don't have any," she whispered again in regret this time.

How could anyone not want to be friends with this adorable little girl.

"Well than, I will be your friend from now on." It was than that she looked up and smiled at me.

END

L and Salam grew up best friends, solved many cases together, Salam's skill letting them survive every challenge. When Salam turned 18 L proposed and got married; they lived and dyed at an old age with 3 children.
