Disclaimer: So I have several of these little blurb/drabble/fragment/whatever type fic-lets hanging around, so I figured I'd post a few here and see what people think. Some may be inserted into fics in the future. BTR is not mine. This story is. Please review.
James winced as the family room lights flashed on, blazing painfully bright, especially considering that it was past midnight. 'What the…!' He inwardly swore as his mother swished towards the couch in her bathrobe, a huge fashion magazine in her hands.
She pointedly glared at his current choice of clothes. "You need to learn to put pants on," she lectured in an incredibly annoying motherly tone, plonking herself down on the couch opposite the one he was sprawled out on.
James refused to dignify that with a response. He was NOT going to return the bitchery. He liked walking around in his t-shirt and underwear. Socks too, if he was cold. Everyone was SUPPOSED to be asleep this late at night…rather, this early in the next morning. This was HIS time. This was when he could relax and let down all the walls and fake pleasantries and charm he carried around all day. He could smile a real, happy smile as he texted away. His emotional defenses jolted back up so fast it made him feel queasy. He inwardly groaned at feeling sick to his stomach.
He knew the reason he was feeling nauseous was partly from not having eaten anything since 4:00 that afternoon. But he also knew that a good part of the problem was from jumping from feelings of relaxation and contentment to extreme irritation and discomfort.
All he wanted was to be able to lie down on his couch in his underwear and text his friends. Was it really that big a deal?
His shoulders were killing him too. 'I guess I know where I hold my stress then.' He hated feeling so lousy, and being so pissed off.
His phone vibrated several times, text messages from Kendall, Logan, and Carlo starting to stack up as they started wondering why he stopped replying. James smiled just a bit. It was great to have the guys…he didn't know where he'd be without them.
