The brown-haired, cocky grandson of Professor Oak could never admit to himself that he was actually…dare he say it…gay.

He refused, more like. Denial, was exactly what Gary Oak was in. He shook off every possible thought, whenever it entered his mind. He was always surrounded by girls, cheering him on. Ever since working mostly full-time at his grandpa's lab, he noticed less and less of girls, and more of well…boys. In fact, he grew to grasp the fact that he was never really that interested in girls ever. But he refused the thought of being gay.

It was that one day, when his best friend came back into town form the Unova region, that he realized something. Of course, he would never feel the need to tell the boy that he was his best friend, simply because they were rivals.

"Ash," Gary had said. Ash nodded at him, always a determined look on his face. "I hear you went through a bout of tough luck."

Ash faltered a bit, but only stood up more straight. "It happens, you know? What can you do?"

Rhetorical question. Gary smiled slightly. He put out his hand, a sign of peace. Ash took it and shook it.

He felt that spark. He let go suddenly. Ash gave him a weird look. Gary turned away, embarrassed. "So…you want to see your Pokemon Ashy-boy?"

Finis.
