Flare raised his hind leg and swiped it rapidly behind his ear. The other ear flicked, and he stopped. He stood, the wind feeling good against his neck fur. He felt free without his collar. He scented a mouse, then stopped and crouched. He got closer and closer, until…a rattling noise alerted the mouse and it scattered off. Flare's ear flicked in anger, then looked behind him to see what the noise was. He blinked and he was curled up in his bed, his housefolk pouring food into the dry bowl. He sighed. That was a great dream, but it happened more than once. He stretched his front legs and hind, padding out of his bed and licking up the dry food.
The Flareon slid out of the flap which led to the garden. He launched himself upward, towards the fence. He balanced on it until he got a grip and sat, staring out into the woods in front of him.
"Hope you're not planning on actually going over there, Flare." A familiar voice warned.
"Hey, Flash."
The Blitzle balanced towards him, and sat beside him.
"Well, only for a peek."
"Are you sure? Purple went there once."
"That fat old Purugly never went into the woods!"
"He did! He caught a Swellow once!"
"Yeah, but now he complains about Swellows and Taillows and such, because they interrupt his sleep, ever since he went to the vet."
"No, but, really! There are ferocious wild Pokemon, that would kill you for food and sharpen their claws on bones and stuff!"
"I'll be fine. I'll only catch a mouse or two."
"Don't say I didn't warn you!" Flash shrugged and balanced back towards his own garden.
Flare was stalking a mouse, nibbling on a berry. Its ear twitched and it ran off, when something pushed Flare over.
