Prologue.
A single tear manages to slide down my face as the sobs silently wrack my body. I kick out with all the force I have at a stupid doctor. "You morons don't know anything!" I shriek. "You ruin everything! That's all you know how to do." I say before I punch a young woman. Bodies are lying, strewn around me, and I feel nothing. No feel of slight remorse at seeing them all unconscious as I usually do.
"Nudge." A man says carefully, stepping into the room. I notice he keeps his distance. "We don't want to harm you."
"Then what do you want?" I scream, agony filling my voice. My family has abandoned me. The flock left. I'm alone now. I snap out my wings. "You want these, don't you?"
The man nods. "We have test subjects that are fully willing to be under our control. You six original test subjects have the only genes that were implanted successfully. We need at least one of you. We need to extract your avian DNA, and cut off your wings. We would then graft them onto our new subjects, and we will test more on them."
"Would it hurt?"
"Not at all." The man said, a sick wanting creeping into his eyes.
Two hands grabbed my shoulders. Instinctively, I kick with my leg, and elbow their stomach. They groan, but their death grip doesn't slacken. Another pair of hands grab my ankles, and they lift me up. I scream, a raw sound filled with anguish. I keep my wings tucked in, in case they snap them or something.
"Good job, men." The man says. "Take her to the lab. It's time to experiment."
The men grunt in reply, and tighten their grip. They drag me through sickly white halls to a small room, and strap me down to a steel table. The man comes in. "Before we begin, I would like you to know who I am. I'm Dr. Nang. I am the leader of Cyski, the company that will rule the world, unlike that horrendous attempt before myself." He says. He turns to one of the giant men. "Now, where's Janice?"
"Right here!" A blonde trills, walking in. "Now, out of my operating room. This is a tough procedure, and I can't have you crowding up my space!"
"Yes, yes." Dr. Nang says. "Everybody, out!"
Dr. Nang marched out, with the men and a little girl who I think was an assistant following.
"Now, now." Janice said in that high voice of hers. "We don't have any anesthesia, so we'll have to make do."
"What? No!"
"Yes, now hush up." She clicks a button, and my steel table flips over. Something slides back.
"Open your wings!" Janice warbles.
"No!" I say, trying to resist.
"Fine." She says. I feel something pulling on my tawny wings. Its a struggle, but I feel a sharp pinprick, and I lose all control of my body. The wings come unglued from my back, and she does something to them to make them stay up.
"This will only hurt a little." Janice cackles. I hear a whirring, grinding sound, like a machine from a dentist.
"Here we go." Janice says, and the machine makes contact with the base of my wings.
So... You like? If you like, I'll continue. You don't, I won't. I like it. I'll probably continue this.
Nudge: Owwww. My wings hurt.
Me: It's okay. You'll get your happy ending. I think.
Nudge: Well, hurry up. It still hurts.
