A/N: Yes, Green Day inspires me. XD Zarya, happy be-lated birthday.
Dearly beloved are you listening?
He remembered her face. Her hair. Her clothes. Her attitude. Everything about her. Every feature, but he didn't remember her. There was no sense in that, as he stared at her with a look of interest. Where had he seen her face? Clouded with worry her eyes were, and he couldn't help but smile. Was she another one that thought he was insane?
"Riku…" She breathed his name and his smile faded into a frown. How did she know him?
He regarded her with a cool look. "How do you know me?"
Her eyes widened with hurt and disbelief. "Y-you don't remember…?" He was pretty sure she was asking, but it sounded like a statement.
"No, I'm sorry," He spoke icily, wanting to be left alone, "I don't." 'You liar…' She bit her lip and turned her head away slightly. He drew in a breath and closed his eyes, feeling another migraine coming on. It was silent for a long time, and he knew she was stalling, thinking of something that could possibly make him recall memories he didn't want too.
He rubbed his head and began to speak, "Look, as I said before, I'm sorry. But-." She cut him off with a hopeful smile.
"Destiny Islands!" She offered, almost pleading. He nearly choked. Stop, he wanted to cry it scream it. She didn't have the right, no right at all.
"Go." He said coldly, "Go now."
Her lower lip quivered, "But-but you have to remember!" She cried. He shook his head and narrowed his eyes.
"You must have me confused with someone else." He muttered, already closing the door. She put her hand out to stop him from shutting the door.
"No, wait." She pleaded, "Why won't you remember?"
He paused, "That's none of your business." He snarled and she flinched. "So leave now." She took a step back but shook her head.
"Why, Riku, why?" Her voice was almost inaudible. But he caught what she said and didn't want to answer.
"Let me tell you something," He began nastily, "Not everyone likes to remember. Sometimes, people like to forget the mistakes they made and that's why they left everyone. To restart and not remember all that they did to screw up. Not everyone likes the bitter feeling they're left with." He remembered her now, her remembered everything after years of not.
She blinked her blue eyes, "We were searching…"
"Leave," He spat, "I no longer want to remember." She took another few steps back and he smiled, "You're no longer a part of my illusion." Before he closed the door her saw her break and he still smiled, remembering how she always did.
For lack of the better word and that's my best excuse.
