Belonging

He knew that it wouldn't last. The moment Yuushi held him, he knew it wouldn't last. Yuushi had come to him broken, heart shattered by yet another superficial girl he had actually loved. And Gakuto had taken advantage of that. He tempted Yuushi to take him, told him to pretend that he was her. Gakuto had been greedy. He had wanted more than Yuushi had. He didn't deserve to feel hurt when Yuushi said her name instead of his.

He deserved what was inevitable.

Every week or so, Yuushi would suddenly appear on his doorstep, and Gakuto would wordlessly let him in, knowing full well what he wanted.

It came to no surprise when in their third year, Yuushi came up to him and said, "Let's end this."

And Gakuto stood there, looking seemingly unfazed, even though he was breaking on the inside.

Because Gakuto had always loved Yuushi, ever since he met him, he had loved him.

But he had known that he would never have Yuushi's heart, so he settled for the next best thing. He claimed Yuushi's body. Whenever Yuushi held him, Gakuto would mark him in anyway possible, just so Yuushi would temporarily belong to him.

Yuushi turned to leave, and Gakuto desperately wanted to run after him, to hug him, to tell him that in actuality, he was hopelessly in love with him. But he stopped himself from doing it, because Yuushi shouldn't be tied to him. Yuushi deserved to find a beautiful wonderful girl to fall in love with and to have a beautiful wonderful family to spend the rest of his life with. Gakuto didn't deserve to be by Yuushi's side, and he knew it.

When he saw that Yuushi had turned the corner, his face finally evoked emotion. His lower lip trembled, and tears started forming at the corners of his eyes.

Tears started cascading down his face, and he furiously tried to wipe them away, but to no avail. He felt that he had no right to cru over something that he never had in the first place. A tiny portion of his heart hoped and wished that Yuushi might turn around, might come to him, and might tell him that he actually loved him.

But Gakuto knew that this wasn't the case. Because Yuushi didn't, and never would, belong to him.

Fin.
