Lesson's LearnedI sat down on the ground under a tree and just stared out into space. Dimitri hated me, it was that obvious. Maybe I should have listened to Lissa and learned how to control my temper. I should have given Dimitri space. He didn't need me pressuring him too.
I sighed and stood. Maybe I should just leave. I didn't have a place here anymore. I felt better at school. Here, Lissa had her place, Christian had better things to do, and Dimitri was so closely guarded. I had never realized how few friends I had. There was Adrian too. I suppose I should pay more attention to him since he's my boyfriend.
"Roza?" a familiar voice asked behind me with a thick accent. I turned and saw Dimitri walking towards me. I crossed my arms and hid the fact that I was glad to see him.
"What?" I asked harshly. He sighed and put his hands in his pockets.
"I'm sorry about before," he said uncomfortably. I looked away. "I was mad because everyone was pressuring me and all, so I snapped."
"You said you didn't ever want to see me again, I don't call that snapping. I call that hatred," I said and turned to walk away, but his warm hand caught my arm. I turned.
"Roza," he whispered. I pulled my arm out of his grip.
"You don't want me, Dimitri, I can see that," I said before walking away. Leaving Dimitri was the hardest thing for me to do, but I was only human. I needed to move on. I had Adrian now. He was all I needed.
"You left him?" Adrian asked. I lay with my head in his lap and my eyes closed. I shrugged.
"I have enough drama in my life. I need to focus on passing and getting out," I said simply.
"That doesn't sound like the Rose I now and love," Adrian said, bending to kiss my forehead. I sighed and opened my eyes.
"I know. I have to push myself to leave him. He doesn't need anymore head aches. If I was around him 24/7, he'd just worry about me. All he needs to focus on is proving himself normal," I said easily.
"If Dimitri was in your place and you were in his, what do you think he would do?" Adrian asked.
"I don't know," I said quietly and sat up.
"You think about it," he said before leaving. I groaned in frustration. I stood. I needed to fix things with Dimitri and I needed to fix things with him now.
As you know, Rose is later charged for the killing of the queen and is unable to patch things up with Dimitri because she is taken to trial. This takes place in between, right after he yells at her in church and before the café scene.
