Neytiri knew that something was terribly wrong.

The way Jake was lying lifelessly on the ground definitely indicated that something had went wrong. She had killed the evil man and saw that Jake did not sustain from very serious injuries. Yet no matter how hard she shook him, or screamed for him to wake up, he remained unconscious.

Frantic, she turned around and saw a cabin. It was the cabin that the evil man was so bent on destroying, which Jake had been trying to protect. A realization dawned upon Neytiri – that this cabin must be where the Skywalker Jake laid. Neytiri instantly stood up and ran towards the cabin, desperately searching for the entrance. She found a way in through a window which the evil man had broken earlier, and when she entered, she saw a Skywalker lying at the far end of the cabin.

Her heart pounded heavily against her chest and her breath came out in audible gasps. This can't be it, she thought. It can't end like this. She found a gas mask that the Skywalkers usually wear dangling against the wall, grabbed it, and put it onto the Skywalker's face. Watching his closed eyes, Neytiri knew that he was Jake. Please wake up. Don't leave me, Jake!

The mask fogged up with breath. Jake sputtered a few times, but eventually he opened his eyes. She noticed that his eyes were blue. Blue like the beautiful sky. His small hand crept up to her face, and with a soft whisper, he said, "I see you."

Smiling, and weeping tears of joy, Neytiri replied as well, "I see you."

Then Jake closed his eyes and started laughing with relief. Neytiri was still enthralled by the sight of Skywalker Jake. This was him. This was his true self, the man whose bravery she had fallen in love with – this fragile being was the one who led the Na'vi, her people to victory. This man, who defied his own race to save her and her people. He was beautiful.

"Neytiri, please, lift me up onto that chair there."

She looked up and saw a chair with wheels.

"Why do you need a chair with wheels?" she asked curiously after she had fitted him comfortably in the chair.

"I'm crippled. I can't walk." He said smiling.

Neytiri sat down to be level with him. "Oh, Jake…" Tears started to spring out of her eyes again. Her mate was such a strong man. His soul was so beautiful.

"It's alright, Neytiri. That was why, when I became linked with my Avatar, I felt a sudden freedom. I could finally walk and run, after so many years. I could feel the fresh soil under my feet. I could swing from tree to tree, and after being part of the Omaticaya people, I could fly." He placed a small hand on Neytiri's big, blue one. "I felt so connected with nature, with Eywa. Your people taught me how to live again, Neytiri. That is why, I am going to become one of you."

"Jake Sully, you are a man so worthy of my love." Neytiri said softly. "You are so delicate, yet so strong. Yet, are you really willing to abandon your own race for mine?"

"Yes, Neytiri, because I love you and your people."

"I love you too."

They watched their fingers entwine; her long blue ones with his smaller, fair ones.
