Dear Diary.
So far, I've spent two weeks at Hogwarts. And no one has yet discovered that I'm keeping up a diary. I'm a little bit scared that someone in my dorm will find out and tell Fabian en Gideon about it. They'll make fun of me if they know. But thus far, it hasn't been discovered. I draw the hangings of the bed around me and place a silencing charm on my bed every time I write.
My first two weeks were a bit scary. I lost my way in the castle thrice (can you believe Fabian and Gideon were actually right about the moving staircases? I thought they were fooling me as usual!) but luckily the portraits like to help first years and show us the way. The ghosts would help us too, but Peeves is not to be trusted! I trusted him once and went left as he said. However, I had entered a forbidden corridor and ran right into the arms of Apollyon Pringle, the caretaker. He threatened me with corporal punishment (is he actually allowed to do that?), but luckily I got away by the excuse of being lost.
My two brothers are, as they already told me, the two biggest trouble makers in this whole school. I wander if there will ever be two bigger pranksters wandering around this castle at night. I highly doubt it. Unless, of course, they are their sons.
Only today I would find a real frog in the chocolate frog box I received from an anonymous person. No doubt my dear brothers have sent it. It croaked and sprang away. But I'll repay my brothers. I'll spend the whole night on thinking about a way to pay them back!
Now, another fact I would like to mention is that everyone in our house is extremely kind. Especially the first years, because we're all scared, and the second years, because they remember how scared they were last year. Yesterday, when I was trying to find the way to the library, a kind boy by the name of Arthur Weasley offered to walk me all the way there. Of course I was utterly surprised and kept blushing and I almost couldn't utter any words, but in the end I managed to say 'ok'.
The problem is that this Arthur guy is a first year Gryffindor too. That means that I see him every day in class, and mostly we're sitting close at the table in the Great Hall, because first years always flock together a bit. Arthur… I can't really find words to describe him. He has red hair, almost the same colour as mine. The way he looks, it's just… amiably. He is always extremely kind to me (like when I met him on my way to the library) and mostly I just don't know what to say to him.
Also, he knows incredibly much about Muggle items. I, myself, come from a pureblood family, which leaves me to know very little about Muggle objects. Arthur is a pureblood wizard himself, but he says he has an uncle who appears to be a squib and that uncle has taught him a lot about Muggle stuff. Arthur, for example, explained me how to use a fellytone. If you pick up the receiver and form a number, you can actually talk to people on the other side of the world. It's quite unpractical though, because you have to shout all the way there.
But I've made my mind up. Tomorrow, I'm going to pay Gideon and Fabian back for their little prank on me and I'm going to talk to Arthur. A real talk, without blushing, stumbling words, or anything else.
I'll let you know tomorrow how it turned out…
Love, Molly
