Note: Am not dead...
I just haven't updated in a looong time. On Her Own Wings is coming along, (very, very slowly) but with the next HP movie being released soon(ish) I felt like doing a HP/Twilight that I've had in mind for some time. (HP is infinitely better than Twilight, by the way. Sorry, Meyer fans) I'm going to vary between first person between the Twilight characters (mainly Bella and Edward) and do mostly third person from Harry's perspective for all the Potter chapters.
This is set just after the battle in Ecilpse, and before Jacob runs away. In the Harry Potter world, it's about eight years after The Battle of Hogwarts, and Harry & Ginny, and Ron & Hermione are married, (canon couples here!) and working at the Ministry.
Please R&R :) Cyber cookies and hugs all around to those that do!!!
Prologue
Perhaps he thought I needed to get out of the house, having avoided both town and my sullen father for the last couple of days. Perhaps he thought I needed a break from Alice, who was excitedly asking my opinions anytime of the day on such trivial subjects such as the paper of the invitations or the theme colours of the decorations. Perhaps he only wanted some time alone with me, away from the rest of his family and the population of Forks.
Whatever his motivations, when Edward offered a trip to our meadow for a day, I felt no position to decline at all.
The day began perfectly. The omnipresent clouds were a soft, pearly white, but were only partially veiling the blue sky above, letting some of the sun's rays though to give the earth a subtle, dappled effect. The air was crisp after the previous night's rain, and the cool wind blew and my hair and sleeves as we made our way down the now familiar path.
The meadow itself was breathtaking. Making the slow transition from spring to summer, you would've never believed that the forest had been subjected to a violent battle. The scars had been washed away, and instead of the smell of smoke lingering in the air, the breeze was filled with scents of the native flowers blossoming. The vividly green grass was interrupted only by the wild daisies, and the small gurgling stream was turned gold from the reflection of the sun.
Breathtaking. However, I only had eyes for Edward.
Golden eyes smouldering, he clasped his hand in mine and brought it to his lips, pulling me in closer. I snuggled up to his glorious body, tilting my head up for a kiss.
"What are you thinking?" he murmured softly, his lips pressed against mine.
"I can't tell," I replied truthfully, withdrawing enough to put together a coherent answer. "You're clouding my perspective. Not that I object, of course."
His mouth twitched into my favourite crooked smile as I buried my head into his chest again, inhaling the sweet smell of his shirt. So much had passed in the last week- the battle, Edward's proposal, saying goodbye to Jake… It had been awhile since we'd been able to be together without the threat of constant doom looming overhead. Just together, the two of us, in the perfect serenity of our meadow…
Edward's cell phone rang, somewhat ruining the moment. Perhaps he'd felt it too- he gave a slight snarl as he switched it off, stowing it back into his pocket.
"Who was that?" I asked, curious, looking up at him. Sitting under the dappled sunlight, his skin was alight with diamonds, throwing tiny rainbows across the grass.
"Alice," he said. "Probably calling you to verify the fonts on the invitations."
I rolled my eyes slightly- Alice's enthusiasm was exhausting, to say the least. My psychic vampire bridesmaid was certain that my wedding would be perfect, throwing herself into the role with such passion and fervor that the whole household had learnt to keep well clear of her, myself included. I had enough to worry about already without Alice on my case.
"Never mind about her," Edward said, wrapping his arms around me. I looked up at him, gazing into his golden eyes as he smiled, his lips finding their way to mine…
CRACK.
Abruptly and unexpectedly, an ear splitting sound like a gunshot shattered the silence between us, the tumult startling us apart. Edward was on his feet before I could register anything, half-shielding me with his arms and turning to stare at the far end of the meadow, at the source of the commotion.
My heart leapt to my mouth as I peeked out from behind him and followed his line of gaze. We were no longer alone. Inexplicably and unexplainably, four figures had appeared in our meadow out of thin air, four figures who had caused the gunshot crack. They were walking towards us.
They didn't look too friendly.
