There she was. Trapped.
"Hello?"
Jo leaned over and saw Teresa, the other girl that had been missing.
"Teresa? I'm Jo. We're here to get you out of here. Sam and Dean are going to be here soon. They'll find us!"
A little confused, Teresa looked at Jo and finally felt like she had a chance, a chance to break free. Hope returned to her.
"What is that thing?" Teresa asked
"It's a spirit, a nasty one." Jo said as she looked around trying to find any way out.
Jo took a breath and when she exhaled, she could see the air flow out of her mouth. They felt the room drop in temperature.
Teresa shrieked and threw herself to the back of the tiny cell making herself as small as she could.
This was Jo's first real hunt, and although she knew what to do, her hands wouldn't stop trembling. She wished Dean was there. He would know what to do. He always seemed so fearless, she just wanted to be like him. Brave. All she could think about was being squished closed to him behind the walls just moments before. She never wanted to fall for a hunter, but there she was, wishing for Dean touch.
Those thoughts were quickly brushed away when a hand reached in her tiny cell and grabbed her by the hair, ripping and tugging at it. Pulling out as much as it could. Jo let out a chilling scream, fearing that the boys wouldn't find her in time.
The hand reached in again, this time caressing her face. She wanted to scream. She wanted to run. But she was frozen.
Suddenly shot gun blast echoed in her ears. It was Dean and Sam. They had finally found her.
"Jo?" Dean said in his raspy tone
"I'm here. I'm good!" She replyed with excitement in her voice.
Dean busted the door open as fast as he could. He threw his arms around Jo. He squeezed her tightly, closed his eyes, and let out a sigh. Once he realized what he was doing, he quickly let go. He flashed Jo a quick, embarrassed smile.
"Thank you Dean. I can't imagine what would..."
Dean quickly cut her off,
"Just doing my job."
Sam and Dean got the girls out of there and filled the hidden tunnels with a salt/concrete mixture, knowing the spirit wouldn't ever be able to escape.
As night approached Dean, Sam, and Jo loaded up in the impala. But, this time it was different. Sam sat in the back, he said it was because we wanted to stretch out and sleep, but Dean didn't quite believe him. After miles of quiet, Dean finally spoke,
" You did good out there today, kid"
Jo's face lit up. She reached across the seat and grabbed Deans hand.
"Thank you. It didn't go exactly as I had planned, but we still got the out come I was hoping for."
Dean was looking at the road but kept wanting to glance back at Jo. The comfort of her hand on his was overwhelming. He slowed to a stop and took this chance to look at her. Her blonde hair was tucked behind her ear and he could see the outline of her face in glow of the lights. He reached over to her a pulled her in for a kiss.
Somehow he knew, even in that moment of passion, that this was going to change things. How? He wasn't sure. But he couldn't wait to find out.
