A/N: Since Puppy Again went up in flames; I'm attempting another InuYasha fanfiction! 3 (Note: Some of the behavior might seem OOC. Heh… ') Oh, and this chapter is mainly just to introduce the two main characters. -shrugs-
Starless Dreams
Chapter I
18 years after the defeat of Naraku… somewhere in a forest…
Sesshoumaru sat with his 8 year old hanyou daughter in his lap. Eight years before, Sesshoumaru had mated with Rin, (much to everyone's surprise). They had had a beautiful little girl, who they named Nashihoshiyume. But, not too soon after her birth, Rin had died in a horrible forest fire, which resulted in multiple deaths, and many injuries. Sesshoumaru hadn't gotten there in time to save his mate, but was able to rescue his daughter.
Now, Sesshoumaru and Nashihoshiyume traveled together, not really living anywhere. Sesshoumaru's daughter now lived the same life as her lost mother had. In many ways, Nashi resembled her mother. Her eyes had that same brilliant gleam, her attitude always up-beat and happy-go-lucky. But, in many ways, she also resembled her father; her hair being one thing, long, flowing, and silver. She also had many of the same morals as her father.
In looks, Nashi's hair was long, flowing and silver; kept up in a ponytail in the back of her head. When most people first met her, they often called her Shiraga. On top of her head were two dog ears, much resembling the ones of Sesshoumaru's in his true form. Her garb consisted of a light blue kimono, with a pink floral pattern on the hem of the furisode. Her obi was dark purple, with pink sakura blossom patterns adorning the front. She also wore a pair of wooden clogs.
As Sesshoumaru sat with his daughter, he looked upon his surroundings. The various trees that stood scattered around them were lazily swaying in the breeze, the leaves falling to the forest floor. Sesshoumaru leaned back, resting his head against the bark, his hair rustling with this movement. His thoughts concluded to himself, he allowed his mind to drift away from the world of light to the abyss of sleep.
Moments later though, Sesshoumaru woke with a start, he censed a fresh scent in the air; the scent of a very strong storm. He looked to his daughter, to see her ears twitching, and her eyes slowly blinking open. She looked up to her father, sat up, and rubbed her eyes.
"Chichi-ue. I cense a storm!" she pointed out, a very innocent and thoughtful look gracing her features.
"Me too Nashi, me too." Sesshoumaru stood up, allowing his daughter to stand up besides him. A loud thunderous boom was heard in the distance, and Nashi was clinging to Sesshoumaru's leg in mere seconds.
"…!" Nashi shivered her ears very sensitive to the loud sound. Soon enough, there was a downpour of rain, and lighting could be seen in the distance.
We should find a cave…- thought Sesshoumaru, walking straight from the forest, Nashi following close behind.
Soon, Sesshoumaru had found a cave, and was now making a fire in the center of the large space. Nashi was sitting in a corner, glancing out at the down pouring rain.
"Chichi-ue? How come we never live in one place?" questioned the young hanyou, looking at Sesshoumaru as he came to sit next to her.
"…" Sesshoumaru thought about her question, until answering, "Because, we are simple nomads. We don't live in any one place."
"Oh." Nashi leaned her head on Sesshoumaru's tail that rested on his shoulder, and closed her eyes. The rain had a soothing affect on her, so she was able to go to sleep quickly.
Sesshoumaru looked kindly at his daughter; how one of such little strength could live without worry. He leaned his head back aganst the wall of the cave, and closed his eyelids, until his breath came evenly.
A/N: Yeah. -waves- Hi! This is Ashurii! I'm here to report that the second chapter is about half-way done of current times, and should be up any time now!
