Ryu's POV

There's me, slowly walking to a pit that I know too well. The place where my father's dead body was thrown. I look down and for a second I could swear I saw two glowing purple eyes staring at me through the darkness. Suddenly the ground below me gives up and crumbles, leaving me screaming and falling down the pit…

I awaken. It was just a dream, I said to my shaking, panting, sweating self. I sit up in my plain, plaid bed. I look around my apartment, looking at the bare beige walls.

"There has to be something more than a regular life," I tell myself out loud.

My name is Hidoshi, but I go by Ryu (aka dragon). At this point, I'm 15. I'm an alchemist, apparently I'm a 'bender of what the Ishbalin god gave us'. My goal is to become a state alchemist, and, soon enough that dream will become reality. My buddies in the military are accepting to take "The Test" in a month or so. I think that I don't look that handsome. I have dark blue eyes, dark hair pulled back in a ponytail with a green scrunchy. My nails are painted a dark gray (It's a family thing, even though I'm a guy…) and I think they look good.

I get up out of bed, and I get dressed. I wear a simple dark brown suit with a green tie (I love green) and black dress shoes. I slip on my alchemist coat (The one Edward Elric wears but green) and I fix my hair.

I sigh as I look in my fridge for a quick snack. Eggs? Nah, too much prep time. Instant ramen? Sure. I shove the cup I pulled out of the fridge and toss it in the microwave. I set it to a minute and sit down at my dining table.

As I hear the hum of the microwave I glance around again. A 15-year-old should not be living by himself. My dad was killed in the war. My mom was killed by the Ishbalins. My younger brother turned and tried to kill me…

Beep, Beep, Beeeep. The beeping of the microwave meant the minute was up. I get up groggily and take the ramen out, open the lid, and set it down on the table. I grab a pair of chopsticks and start to chow.
