A/N: To my readers for The Forgotten Twin, this does not mean that I am giving up on that story. This is in fact, one of those stories where you have an idea bouncing around in your head and it is causing severe writers block for any other works you may need to work on. I got an idea from re-watching the last pirates of the Caribbean movie, and from the fact that there are no mermaid fics for this fandom except little mermaid based ones. This is a compilation of my knowledge and imagination.
Disclaimer: I don't own A:TLA
…
Once, long ago, the earth was divided into four kingdoms, the Water tribes, the Earth kingdom, the Fire nation, and the Air nomads.
The Fire nation is a series of islands, the largest home to a dormant volcano, and in the mouth of that volcano, the capitol.
The Air nomads dwell in four temples, North, South, East, and West.
The Earth Kingdom, the largest of the four, is spread out over a huge expanse of land. It is made up of several big cities and many, many smaller towns.
The water tribes are the most elusive of all of them. There are three, each solitary, not reaching out to the others except in times of dire need. In the Northern tribe, they live on the ice in the North pole. They have a huge city, which was sculpted and water bent from the ice. In the swamps, they live with the forest, respecting and coexisting with nature. The southern tribe has no water benders, living as the opposite of the northern tribe, who are wealthy, and have a sprawling city. Whereas those who live in the south pole are poor, and live in tiny huts and tents made of thin animals hides.
The Southern tribe is said to have one great treasure though, the sirens. Most think they are an old wives tale, to keep their husbands from running of with a gorgeous water tribe girl.
There is much speculation about these sirens, mostly among children whom still believe in the mystical creatures. Whether or not they have fangs, do they have claws? Is their song what makes sailors fall in love, or was is their bodies? One thing, however, is certain. If these creatures do exist, they are exceedingly beautiful.

A/N: Yes, yes, I know, boring backstory. The first chapter will, however be up later today. I promise.
Please review. I'd love to know what you think.
