A/N: I am new to writing rent fan-fiction, so please, please review, I would appreciate any feedback, thanks! Disclaimer: I never did and never will own the fabulous RENT, any lines you recognize or its characters!

Why would you love someone who constantly hurts you? All past lovers still reel from the shock of being left for another, still feel the sting from when they cheated on you. But sometimes we forgive those people or still love them no matter how much we want to hate them. Some people are impossible to hate and all too easy to love. You know you're being used but you don't do anything about it because you love them, and you convince yourself that they love you too. The smallest things they do make you swoon. That person walks through the room, with someone new but you still sigh longingly.

They play a cruel game with you, but you play along. You can't blame them completely, after all you're the one who trots after them like a lovesick puppy. You try to pretend you are over them but everyone knows you are not. Maybe you are trying to convince yourself you are over them. Either way no one is fooled. You don't hurt that person anyway, you only end up hurting yourself. How can a person sleep next to you for so long, yet still walk away without a second glance?

Some people are like a drug. Roger might have been addicted to heroin, but he got clean, he could get clean. Throwing off loving that one person, that's impossible to do! But what can you do? You simply have to dance until your diva is through. Love doesn't understand hurt or other feelings. When they walk by you, you forget why you were ever mad at them. It is so frustrating, you want to hate them but you can not.

You can love and not be loved or be loved and not love. It feels like it is more common to love and not be loved back. Or maybe that's just because that is what you always get. She could always leave you, you could never leave her.

You should have known, you are so smart. You should have realized that she wouldn't, couldn't stay. She wasn't a safe choice, but you loved her anyways. If you really love someone you'll set them free but that is so hard to do. No matter what you are captivated by that person and they never truly let you leave.

Neither were naïve and neither had much in common. One had already been hurt and the other knew she would be hurt. Either way they would always be connected by the love for the same person. Regardless of if they wanted to be connected or wanted to love Maureen. Yes, Mark Cohen and Joanne would always be fascinated by the same person. They would always love her more than they wanted to.
