Chapter 1: Welcome to the Host Club (This is Chapters 1-3)
A/N: Someone should have banned me from this site back when I was in middle school. I apologize for the long wait. Without further a-due let's get into this train wreck.
"Please, Yugi. It wasn't my fault," Atem begged softly to his partner in spirit form.
"Yeah right!" Yugi countered with a big: Please, it was so your fault this happened.
"Okay, so maybe it was, but he was going to hurt you. I mean, the damaged cause was not significant to cause worry."
"You mind crushed the bully!" Yugi cried out loud, slamming his hands on the desk to glare down the spirit of the puzzle to get his point across. His outburst, however, interrupting his history class to varying degrees of confusion and worry from his peers, his teacher seemed especially considered about Yugi's outburst.
"Uhm, Mr. Moto? Are you alright?" His teacher prompted with a brow raised, "Do you have something to share with the class?" Yugi squawked in panic, before letting out a light laugh that bordered between sheepishness and awkward tense crackling neither himself or the puzzle didn't think his voice could reach. In the end he muttered,
"No, Mrs. Cane. Hm, please continue."
"Yet, you seem so willing to talk in my class Mr. Moto," She said, her tone tight as she crossed her arms across her chest. "Why don't you answer this following this question, I written on the board," Mrs. Cane waved her hand toward the board, "Here, I'll read it for you," She turned back towards the board and read again, out load,
"Tell me, how many years ago did the Unnamed Pharaoh live?"
"Well, some believe it to be three thousand years, however, there have also been account of some things being recorded for over five thousand years. Then again, that's for the Unnamed Pharaoh, if you would like I can recount Cleopatra or Neferefre, perhaps Khafra, if you prefer." Mrs. Cane sighed,
"No, no. Please, just sit down Mr. Moto and no more outburst."
"Yes, Ma'am." Yugi sunk back down in his seat before Joey leaned over and muttered from his right,
"You guys fighting still?"
"Yeah," Yugi mumbled in a faint voice, so the teacher couldn't hear. It was kind of obvious that him and the spirit puzzle were fitting.
"So, what are you going to do, Yugi? Surely punishment is in order, althought, I'll admit I've never thought I would see the Pharaoh of all people act so, ruthless." Yami Bakura chimed in, in the same gruffness of a whisper. He had clearly taken over Bakura to take jabs at Yugi and the Pharaoh.
"I was only trying to help!" Atem growled, his eyes blazing crimson flames as Yami Bakura stifled a laugh,
"Aww, what's wrong? Running out of excuses Pharaoh? Yugi, if I were you, I would go beyond punishment means!" Atem eyes blackened to soot,
"If Yugi wasn't fighting me right now, I would mind crush you too, perhaps it would help Bakura in the long run to have a better change of fighting against you!"
"That's it!" Yugi hissed, as Yami Bakura, Atem and Joey blinked at his harsh interruption, "You have pushed me too far Atem, you are going to a place where Yami Bakura would beg for mercy!" Yugi cracked, as Atem rolled back a bit in shock by his partner's actions.
"Boys!" All for them froze, "Is there a problem!?" Mrs. Cane croaked, openly glaring at them,
"N-nothing," They replied weakly as they started to sink into their seat, a little. Before Mrs. Cane could issue out any punishments, the bell rung. "Okay class, you know your homework for tonight, I'm expecting you all to turn it in right when the bell rings so, please, don't be late. As for you Mr. Moto, and your group of friends, I hope you all learn that this is a place for learning, and your riff raff will not be tolerated. Don't make me call you boys again tomorrow like this, understood?" The boys muttered a weak 'yes' in reply as Yugi quickly gathered his things and left the classroom, Joey right on his heel. Yugi had to make his way outside of the school to a local telephone. He stared at the phone and sighed.
Atem needs this, Yugi thought. Thus, he put some change in and pressed the buttons, putting the phone up to his ear as he waited for the person on the other side to pick up.
"Yugi?" Atem questioned, voice light as he peered over his partner's shoulder,
"When you go there," Yugi prompted after a breath, "There will be no mind crushing, or any shadow games, nothing. Understand?" Atem didn't reply, he still seemed to be in a state of shock. Yugi heard him swallow thickly. Joey opened his mouth, but then realized that Yugi wasn't talking to him. It didn't take long for Tea and Tristan to come up, so see what was going on, as they probably ran into Bakura or Yami Bakura for that matter, along the way. Finally, someone picked up the phone,
"Ishizu?" He asked softly, trying to see if he had gotten the number right,
"Good day Yugi. What can I do for you?"
"I need a favor, if you can help me."
"Of course, what can I do for you?"
"Remember what I talked about before, just in case, something or another happened." There was a pause, before a light 'ah' filled Yugi's ears,
"Yes, of course. Are you sure? Those people are not who I thought you would know. But, the placements, arrangements are already in place."
"Yes, actually. Before I wasn't so sure, but now, I've never been so sure next to taking down Zorc, with all my friends of course. I could never do that journey alone."
"Yes, but it seems that the Pharaoh will have to fend for himself." She paused once more, but Yugi could hear the smile in her voice, "Regardless, I'll see you in five minutes, at your place."
"Thanks, Ishizu. I owe you one."
"Haha, no need for such repayment of any kind." He would hang up then, before turing to his five friends, one a spirit no less, but still a friend all the same. "I'm heading to my house,"
"And do you think we're not going to come?" Tea asked with a smile, Tristian was beaming,
"Whatever going on, were here for you." Yugi nodded,
"Thanks guys." He would turn to Atem afterwards, "You might not see it now, but this is for your own good."
Atem didn't say anything, he just nodded, holding in a sigh as he fazed back into the puzzle. When Atem disappeared the group of friends made their way back to a familiar place, The Game Shop.
It took exactly five minutes before there was a knock on the door. Yugi heartily let Ishizu in, her in, the Millennium Necklace glistening around her neck.
"Are you ready?" She asked once greetings were had. Everyone in the group was anxious as Yugi had been omen ever since the phone call happened. Tea was especially worried, but she tampered it down for she trusted Yugi.
"Yes," Yugi hummed as the two stood in front of one another, however there was enough room for someone to stand in between them. Ishizu's waved her hands over her necklace, muttering a charm or spell in Egyptian.
It began to shine and soon, the puzzle followed suit. The bright light engulfed them both before it died out, Atem who was alive was sitting on the floor in between Yugi and Ishizu. With even tan skin, his eyes were a warm amethyst, that held a warm base of crimson to bring out a darker shine to them. He wore a darker shade of Yugi's uniform with his black shirt with two buckles around his chest, three belts around his waist, only two of them where hanging off his waist, and his shoes matched Yugi's as well.
Tea, Joey and Tristian cried out in shocked as Atem quickly went to stand once he realized he wasn't in the safety of the puzzle anymore. Yugi was smiling though, jumping back and forth on the balls of his heels. Atem, mostly likely in shocked, kept moving his fingers a bit, trying to see if this was his own body, even if it was only for a brief time. Magician of Black Chaos appeared next to him as Dark Magician was next to Yugi.
"My Pharaoh," Ishizu said, bowing deeply, "While I have my own thoughts upon this matter, I do trust Yugi, and his judgement. This place your going to for awhile, you might need some aid. Since Yugi will not longer have you around, I've placed two of your most trusted companions with you. Yugi you will have Dark Magician as your aid. My Pharaoh, you shall Magician of Black Chaos. That means it's best to stay out of the darkness's way while you to are apart. We can't allow any of our enemies to find out." She would clear her throat before waving over to Yugi to take over the conversation,
"Right, just like Ishizu said, but Atem you'll be going to the renown Ouran High School for a while, I think it's best for you to develop some diverse types of skills. I feel like with us dealing with darkness, it's caused you to act without thinking, and that's just not you."
"So, in other words, you're sending on vacation, Yugi?"
"Yeah, that's exactly it. That's an effective way to put it." Yugi agreed as Atem's eyes widen, "I even got your bag ready for you actually." Atem turned towards the rest of his friends,
"Did you all know about this?" Atem asked, still in a bit of shock, he sounded hurt thought. The softness of his voice came out of reflex then anything else. The up or down side of having a human body.
"I'm sorry Yami, I really didn't." Joey muttered, using an all to familiar nickname. "If I did, I would have rallied in your corner, sorry man. It might not be bad to have a small vacation. We're all tired for battling the darkness this long." Yugi gave Atem a mid-size jet black bad as Ishizu gave him a small map with directions. Yugi quickly gathered the puzzle and his own deck with Magician of Black Chaos on top.
"Well, hey, we're going to drive you to the airport." Yugi said with a small laugh, which eased Atem's clenched heart. He was feeling thick waves of nervousness hit him, it made him a little pale in the face, yet Atem still smiled regardless of that. He was going to get through this without mind crushing someone, it was vacation, so he was going to try and treat it like one.
Still parting at the airport was difficult, but necessary, Yugi gave him the puzzle and his deck as Atem with white knuckles gripped the handle of his bag tightly. Still he would hug his partner and the rest of his friends before they parted ways.
The plane ride wasn't bad, he didn't like the long hours of waiting, and him being on an emotional edge didn't help. Fans approached him, and he politely declined. yet when he made his way outside of the airport, a driver dressed down in a suit approached him,
"I'm sorry sir, but are you Atem Moto?"
"Yes, I am,"
"Great, I'm your ride, here let me take your bag."
"O-oh, alright." Atem wasn't sure what was going on, but the driver didn't seem to have malice intent. He seemed like he generally wanted to help.
"Com with me, your car is waiting." The driver waved his hand over to the door as they both walked out together and to the limo. Atem had to stare a little but quickly recovered. It felt like a long drive, until Atem rolled down the window and see that they were approaching the school. The limo stopped after about a good hour's drive as Atem got out. It was dark when they got there, however still with the same friendliness the driver smiled at him,
"Have an enjoyable time at your new school."
"Yes, thank you."
Twilight has final left, Atem thought as he walked inside. A maid greeted him at the door, she was holding a small candle light that was lit. She smiled and waved her hand in excitement.
"Welcome, Mr. Moto. Please follow me your room. It's this way." Her smiled was kind as she led the way, after a confusing maze pattern, and up stares, she took him to the room on the fourth floor.
"Your room sir. If you need anything just pick up the phone and press number nine, it'll direct you to my main line. I'll come up as soon as I possibly can." She offered, as she took out some keys and opened the door for him.
"Thank you miss."
"You're welcome." She bowed before leaving him with the open door. Atem slipped inside and noticed that it was two or three times bigger then Yugi's room. He saw that there was a bathroom on the left, he took advantage of that. Atem went to bed around eleven, after he fiddled with his alarm clock that rested on the bed side. With directions to this club right next to the clock, when he settled down, he only hoped that the alarm would wake him up on time.
The next day, Tamaki Suoh, the king of the Host Club placed an Egyptian crown. He laid on the long couch. Hikaru and Kaoru Hitachiin in their Egyptian priest form kneeling in front. Takaski "Mori" Morinozuka and Mitsukuni "Hunny" Haninozuka dressed as dancers standing. Finally, Kyoya and Haruhi Fujoka wore servants sitting on the extra space on the couch.
"Hey, Tamaki! When is our new host getting here?" Hunny asked as Tamaki brushed threw his hair with his fingers.
"Soon, he or she will show up. We just have to wait."
And speaking of that devil, Atem woke with a started. He looked at the clock. It was noon.
"Noon!?" He gasped when he started to dose back off to sleep. Jumping out of the bed, he slid into the bathroom, quickly taking a shower, brushed his teeth, dried off the works—Atem shook out his spikey hair as it slowly reverted to its normal form.
"Pharaoh, please slow down. You're not that late. It's only five minutes to eleven." Magician of Black Chaos hummed in amusement as Atem couldn't help but to glare at his companion.
"That's equally as worst!" Chaos only sighed as he disappeared, his smile went unnoticed by Atem who muttered light curses in Egyptian, not even trying to hide it under his breath, He put on dark navy-blue jeans with four midnight color belts. Three of them hanged from his waist. He put on his black shirt with buckles, two on his chest and two on his stomach as Atem wore his puzzle around his neck. His case with his deck at his side. He took that matching color jacket and wore it like a cape. With his heeled shoes; he was almost done. He put on his gold arm bracelets. He quickly grabbed the directions on the front that read:
To: The Host Club
It was Yugi's hand writing, he paused for a moment wondering if Yugi was up and ready for school since he had been reduced to an alarm clock at times, until Magician of Black Chaos hummed in the back of his mind about the time. Thoughts on his friend would have to wait, running out of his room, closing the door behind him with directions in hand, he raced to this Host Club. Flipping over the card, he stopped an intersection, before turning, luckily no one knew him, and he didn't run into someone in his hurry, there it was Music Room 3. Anxiousness filled his stomach,
"Is something wrong?"
"For some reason this doesn't feel like vacation," Chaos could only smile to ease his master's worries before waving towards the door. Atem, reluctantly, opened it. There was a bright light and rose pelts coming out of nowhere, blowing passed him.
"What?" He gasped a bit surprised, his eyes narrowed, squinting really as he tried to see past the light. It didn't take long for the light to burn out as he saw all the six guys and one girl who was dressed as a guy smiled and greeted him. The guy with the fake Egyptian crown grabbed his hand and pulled him in.
"Welcome to Ouran High School Host Club. We fill needs of girl and boys alike."
"Right… ah, I'm," Atem didn't get to finish.
"I am the King, President of his Host Club, Tamaki Suoh." He touched Atem's face putting it at an angle, as Atem was trying to swat his hand away, a bit disturbed by Mr. Suoh's forwardness. "What type do you like," He turned letting him go. "Do you like the The Wild Type," He said pointing at the tall boy who was dressed as a dancer. Atem almost laughed, almost. "The Loli-shōta Type," Pointing to the small boy dance who was shorter than Yugi. "The Little Devil Type," At the look alike twins. "The Natural Type," Pointing at the girl then he returned facing Atem who got close; so close he could smell the hot mint on his breath. "Or me, The Prince Type." Atem pulled away, gently to create some type of distance, anger was seeping under his skin, but there seemed to be a misunderstanding.
"I'm flattered by your offer, but that's not the case. That's not why I'm here." Atem muttered under his breath about vacation, but he left that out as he continued, "I was actually sent here by my brother." He held out the direction card, flipping it over before Haruhi approached him and took the card,
"What's that?" Hunny asked as Haruhi eyes widened,
"Hey guys, listen to this," She said, clearing her throat before she continued, "Dear Host Club; hi, my name is Yugi Moto, and my older brother, Atem Moto is going to be joining your group for a while. Haruhi, I'm sure you remember me, as we talked for a little bit. But, see what happened was that I lived with my grandfather while he lived with my parents so one of us could learn our family roots. But they tragically passed away and Atem came to live with us. He's a bit rough around the edges, so I was hoping that you could cake him under your wing and teach him a bit of manners, just some things to get him adjusted to his new life. Thanks again, Yugi Moto."
Atem was annoyed that he was lied too, yet he felt like that was kind of the case from the beginning. Granted, he probably wouldn't have come if he knew Yugi's intentions from the beginning. Everyone was quite for just a second until Tamaki clapped his hands with a new quickness anyone had seen him do.
"Well then, Atem Moto, you seem perfect, we would need to fix your hair and clothes, but we can make this work."
"Please don't touch my hair, Mr. Suoh," Atem huffed, crossing his arms.
"Please, call me Tamaki. Everyone, let's give Atem a new makeover."
"W-what?"
"Don't worry, we won't touch your hair. So, what do we have for Atem here?"
"Well, here's a costume we haven't used." Kyoya threw Atem a girl's uniform as Atem, politely gave it right back to him.
"I'm perfectly comfortable in my own clothes." Atem insisted but was rightfully ignored by Tamaki before Hunny stepped in,
"Wait! Bun Bun got this!" Hunny exclaimed pulling out a thick white shirt with shinny dark navy blue jeans, with the matching jacket.
"Ah, thank you, hm, Hunny?" Atem said, a bit awkwardly trying to remember the small one's name as he took the outfit.
"It wasn't me it was Bun Bun! You like Bun Bun right? Do you want to hold Bun Bun?" Atem just smiled at Hunny as he took the bunny stuff toy. Atem lightly patted his head as he could Chaos's chuckle fill his ears. It made Hunny's eyes light up. "I knew you did! Want have some cake with me?"
"Maybe later." Giving Bun Bun back to Hunny before Atem was snatched by Tamaki before 'helping' Atem change into his outfit. Atem, rightfully embarrassed and annoyed, forced Tamaki right back out of the hanging room.
"Can you believe Mori! He likes Bun Bun!" Hunny exclaimed as Mori just smiled then said,
"That's good. I told you he would."
When Atem walked out he felt a lot better. The clothes looked better on him, along with his puzzle, belts and turning the jacket into a cape.
"Now you type will be, Lone Wolf!" Tamaki cried smiling as Atem sighed. "You have been left behind by your family and left you all alone to fed for yourself." Tamaki continued but Atem asked out loud not caring who answered,
"Do I really need one?"
"Of course! You are a part of the host club so everyone needs a name." Hunny told him holding up cake Atem just shook his head a told him,
"Maybe later." Hunny dragged away with cake in his hands.
"So now!" Tamaki exclaimed throwing his hand to Atem who took a half step back. "You come here to make other people happy even if can't be happy yourself. Good huh?" Atem gave him a weak smile in return.
"Sure, if you say so. When do I start all of this? What do I even do?"
"Right now! When else are you going to start? It's okay if you're not in costume, this time around, it's best to get let you jump right in rather then get your feet wet. Trust me you'll thank me later." So, Atem had placed him by the window with small couch and a table with white roses. Three chairs on the other side of the table. After about thirty minutes of just waiting around Atem was sitting back on the couch looking at his deck of cards that Yugi made him when Tamaki cried out, nearly making him drop the cards,
"NOW LET THE GIRLS IN!" Atem put the cards away as Tamaki led three girls this way. He worked his magic
"We even have the Lone Wolf Type. Here he is, Atem Moto." Tamaki charmed them making their eyes shine. Atem had to hold back from staying or doing something wrong as he stood up to greet them with an innocent 'hello'. He saw Haruhi throw him a look of sympathies, but there wasn't much she could do for him. The girl quickly sat down after introductions were cast as they all sat on the couch,
"So, tell me, Atem Moto...?" Both girls wrapped there arm his, very tightly. They both twirled his bangs with their fingers. The girl who asked him; voice was high and rich. He could smell the thick sent of perfume from both girls.
"Can I feed you this cake I made." The girl asked covering her eyes with her hand.
"Oh, you make me a cake? Why, thank you. You're much to kind. Of course, you can." He didn't care for being fed, even after retaining a few old members about himself as a Pharaoh, but he couldn't say no it seemed. Her eyes lit up if like a light bulb and with a fork she feed it him. It was good. "What is it, the flavor, I mean?" He asked as she feed him another piece.
"Chocolate with a hint of villain."
"Well that's good." Taking the fork and plate eating the slice of cake.
"Maybe you can have your chefs teach you how to cook so you can make its own your own. And, maybe then you can open a cake shop. Well, if you like." He told her as her eyes shined. She nodded.
"Thank you. If you like can I recommend you again so maybe you can taste more."
"Great. I would like it if you did." The girl stood up and told him,
"You can keep the cake. Thank again. See you tomorrow." She told him as she left. The other girl placed a huge smile on their lips.
"What can I do for you?" He asked putting on a soft look with a small smile. As he stared into the other girl's eye who sat on his right. She gasped a deep red blush painted her cheeks.
"I just want to sit here, if that's okay."
"She seems pretty shy," Chaos muttered, checking in on his master, Atem hummed in agreement before nodding,
"I can't see why not. Sure."
"Excuse me, would you two like some cake?" Hunny asked, coming over with a slice, the girl eyes lit up and nodded, tugging at his arm. Atem figured that she had to be a fan of his.
"Sure, please come sit with us." Atem offered, together they eat cake just to make Hunny happy. The girl left after her second slice. Atem lingered about once the Host Club was closed for the day, helping with cleaning. Tamaki had told him before changing clothes,
"Good job, this when better than I thought." Atem smiled and nodded,
"Thank you." Tamaki's backward way of teaching wasn't so bad. But it was only the first day. Atem would walk back to his room, changing into his pajamas when he took another shower for the day. A hot meal was left to him by the maid which he ate plentiful of. His phone rung, and with a yawn he answered it,
"Hey! You sound sleepy."
"Yugi! Oh." He felt himself get embarrassed before chuckling, "Good evening, how are you?"
"I'm good. But it sounds like your vacation kept you busy."
"You don't have to keep that up, the vacation thing."
"Well, it might turn into it, you never know." Atem had to give his partner that, just because working at the Host Club wasn't necessarily bad, just different than everything else he was used too.
Still, he and Yugi had a warm chat before Atem excused himself to bed. With heartfelt goodbyes for the night, Atem hung up and went to bed.
