Because she'd asked it of him, he'd done it.

He went, falling through the air at a rapid pace, as do still bodies, waiting, eyes half-shut, arms out, palms open, simply flying. He could hear her calling out to him, but just this once, he couldn't stop and run to her. Gravity had taken him, her strong arms clutching him, pulling him, so fast, he wasn't even breathing. He could see the bridge from whence he'd come - was it hours ago? Such a long drop…

He could see the clear, blue sky, clouds highlighted by sunlight, even the sun herself, in all her radiance and glory. None however, more brilliant than a shimmering silhouette of an awkward young woman, bushy mass of tangles atop her head, gripping the ledge, expression concealed by the sun's mid-afternoon glare. He didn't need to see it anyway. All he had to do was to close his grey eyes to meet her hazel ones.

They were serene, those thoughts running through his head.

"Why shouldn't they be," he mused, as the bungee cable reached its end, and he began bouncing on the last of the momentum. "I can hear her laughing from all the way down here. That smile's for me."

And he hung, perfect hair finally out of place, steady gaze only on her, silently asking – daring –

"So. What's next?"
