Pairing - John/Teyla
Episode - The Return I (310)
A/N - Jeyla extorted this fic from me. This one and it looks like two others. They're coming. Honest. This is just a little moment that should have happened when the team all got back together.
The questions were starting to crowd in on him. They weren't the ones anybody might expect. They weren't McKay's questions. He was probably wondering how they were going to defeat the Ashurans and take back Atlantis. Carson was probably wondering what the bloody hell he was doing running to where the fighting was. Elizabeth was, well, who knows what a woman is thinking. Yes, he was trying to come up with a strategy, any strategy, to deal with the damned Replicators. That wasn't what was pressing.
He'd been ignoring THE question for six long weeks. Was Teyla still alive? Realistically, with the Lanteans gone, the Athosians would be high up on the wraith hit list. Because of him. Because he convinced Teyla to help him. Did she miss them? Him?
When he stepped out the back of the jumper, Ronon and Teyla were talking in the firelight. "That smells great." John couldn't help a wide smile. One question answered. "Hope you saved some for us"
"John?" Teyla sounded overjoyed to see him. Two questions answered.
In that moment, John damned all of the reasons that were keeping them apart and pulled Teyla into a fierce embrace. Carson chuckled with good natured somewhere behind him. After a long moment, John bent down to kiss her. Damned if he didn't need that affirmation of life. That she was alive. That he was alive.
Elizabeth and Carson grinned at each other. Rodney was considerably less circumspect in his comments. "Captain Kirk strikes again." Ronon, who had watched the Star Trek dvds that circulated Atlantis, snorted at the idea.
John all of a sudden remembered they had an audience and blushed just a bit. Well, if he was going to declare his feelings for her, it might as well be in front of the rest of his family.
It was Ronon who finally thought to question why John and company were there. "Something's wrong."
"Way to bring me back to reality, buddy," John snarked. "Yeah. The replicators have Atlantis."
