Like A Tragedy Now

AN: Well, before I hit the big 1OO, I wanted to write something that was under 300 words(I was GOING for under 200, but you know me. I like details.) that wasn't a poem. Not including the AN, that is. So, that is where Like A Tragedy Now came from. It's inspired by The Story of Us by Taylor Swift, and I hope I did the characters justice. I wanted to see if I could pull off an angsty Phinabella story—one where things might not have worked out when Iz told Phin how she felt.

That being said, I hope you enjoy. :)

Disclaimer: I don't own PnF.

~We all want a happy ending. No one wants to be alone. That's why we tend to write our characters getting their 'happily ever afters'. We pretend that they're us. But, sometimes, life doesn't always end with 'happily ever after'. That's just how life is.~

A stunned silence fills the air, and she grimaces, looking at his shocked expression. He chokes on something—air, probably—and points to her, then to his brother, then his two friends, as if trying to connect the dots. After a couple of minutes of doing that, he finally sputters out,

"You-you like me?"

She winces, shooting a glare at the tall green-haired teen next to her, as if to say, I told you he wouldn't take it well. But, there was no turning back. The deed had already been done. He knew that she liked him. So, slowly, she nods, refusing to meet his confused, shocked blue eyes.

"For… how long?" he asks quietly, after moments of silence.

"Since kindergarten," she replies truthfully, ready to pour her heart out if she needs to. This wasn't anything like she thought it would turn out… She figured that maybe, just maybe, he would feel the same way.

There is another surprised silence, until he finally speaks up. "I… I need some time alone to think," he whispers, running a hand through his bright red hair. Without giving her another look, he runs into the house, leaving the four other teens alone in the backyard.

She tries to blink back her tears, but a couple manage to slip out of her eyes onto her shoulder. "I told you he didn't feel the same way, Ferb," she manages to choke out.

Then, she too turns and runs away.

AN: Btw, it was 249 before the AN, including the header. :] And yes, that angsty quote was by yours truly. (;
