Warning: Underage drinking and alcohol abuse ahead.
A/N: Maybe "Saturday Night" by Natalia Kills would work with this. Or "Shampain" by Marina and the Diamonds.
Talking with the girls about what she was going through helped plenty, but Nikki needed more than just a late-night therapy session to feel better about herself. She walked out the house and to her car with her parents believing that she was headed to school, right? Wrong.
As soon as she drove far away enough from her home–though she wasn't even sure it could be called that anymore–Nikki made her way to an empty parking lot. She parked her car in one of the spaces and reached for her maroon backpack, which was resting in the passenger seat. Unzipping it, there lie a bottle of vodka. She had become tempted to take it after accidentally stumbling upon her parents' secret stash of alcohol days before, eventually giving in to the temptation.
Nikki figured that it would be an easier way to numb the pain, so why not go for it? She would've done it on a weekend but seeing as she couldn't wait for Saturday to come around, she decided to skip school that day to do it. Of course she considered the issue of her friends finding out that she got wasted, but it turned out that hiding it would be easier than she thought. Her next shift at the Khaki Barn wasn't until Thursday, which left today wide open. That way she didn't have to go to school and neither did she have any need to go to the mall. Simple.
Now with the bottle of vodka in hand, Nikki took a deep breath. She tried convincing herself that after a few gulps, her mind would numb. However, she was fully aware that drinking wouldn't make her pain vanish forever, but for only hours at most. Those odds still seemed better than nothing, so she went for it. The cap screwed off with ease and down her throat several gulps of liquor went.
Coughing and gagging, the almost water-like substance set her throat on fire. For the first time in what felt like forever, there weren't tears of anguish in her eyes, but just discomfort – discomfort from the very vodka that burnt her on the inside. After a moment of letting it seep in, she felt lighter. It was another first. She was on cloud nine and felt as if nothing could force her to come down. This feeling was an amazing one and in order to keep it this way for a while, she took more and more chugs of vodka. The more she drank, the more at ease she was. The more she drank, the more her family issues slipped her mind.
Slumping down in the driver's seat, Nikki took a long, blissful sigh as a drunken smile of satisfaction appeared on her face. This, right here, was the antidote to a broken girl.
A/N: I loved writing this, just like my other drabbles and stories. I think this storyline will be a rather interesting one and I can't wait to see how it all plays out when it becomes a multi-chaptered story. I hope you enjoyed it. xoxo
