Supply Run

BeautifulAlice

Summary: Shopping for supplies is a normal thing to do, right? Gen fic, small spoilers for season one.

Disclaimers: I don't own Supernatural.

Sam sighed as Dean slammed the car door shut. He would apologize to his 'baby' later, but for now he was really annoyed at having driven all day and coming up with nothing.

No case.

No phone call from Bobby.

Absolutely nothing.

It was as if the demons had suddenly gotten scared, and went into hiding.

So now they were stopping for snacks, notebooks for Sam, and a few other things. They were at a crappy little gas station out in Kentucky, somewhere, just taking a break from the mindless driving around.

Sam walked in, and found Dean eyeing the row of sweets.

"What'cha want, Sammy?" Dean asked, nodding at the candy and sweets that were together.

"I'll snag some healthy stuff. Uh…I guess you can pick me up some donuts too," Sam suggested, at seeing Dean's annoyed face.

Dean brightened, and said,

"Okay. What kind?"

"Chocolate-what else?" Sam teased, and Dean rolled his eyes, and grabbed the donuts-a large bag of them. Damn, Dean.

When Sam said he'd have 'some' donuts, he meant SOME. NOT a huge bag full of them.

Sigh.

His brother was a royal pain in the ass sometimes.

But he meant well.

Sam grabbed ten cheap notebooks, a bunch of plain black pens, along with some blue and red ones to make notes with later. He grabbed some granola bars, a box of strawberry poptarts, some gateraide, and a jug of bottled water.

He went to the counter where Dean was-of course-chatting up the pretty clerk, who giggled and smiled.

"Come on, dude." Sam hissed, and Dean rolled his eyes.

"Fine fine. Ma'am, think you can ring us up? My annoying little princess wants to get out of here and on the road again," Dean offered.

She giggled.

"Sure thing," She agreed, and began to ring up their items.

Ten minutes later and they were once more on the road.

"Well that was a short supply run," Dean grumbled as he drove the impala across the open highway.

"Dean, you're the one that said we oughta stay on the road in case Bobby calls a case for us," Sam said, sighing.

"Yeah, yeah, I know." Dean muttered, and for a few moments there was silence in the car. Then Dean began humming, and Sam groaned.

"Alright, fine! You can play your stupid music!" Sam said, and Dean-grinning dug in his tapes for his favorite tape that's played so many times that Sam has lost count. Sticking it into the cassette player, out popped out AC/DC.

"I'm on the highway to hell…" Dean rolled.

"It's hell alright," Sam mumbled, but he wasn't heard over the very loud, ear bleeding music that was belting from the speakers.

Shaking his head, Sam turned towards his notebooks and began to pull them open to start up the research he needed to get done.

One good thing about the supply run…

They were now fueled and ready to go kill more demons.
