'Running, running, running, running.'

My hearts beating against my ribcage. My shoes are pounding against the ground. Her hand is in mine, it's small and soft, her slender fingers are squeezing my gloved hands with fear. Her face, filled with fear her beautiful blue eyes, how I love to stare into them. I could gaze at them forever, they were a deep blue. Like the blue I often saw on the planet below, we often started at it together. Earth was mostly covered, by ocean. Blue and full of wonder. Just like her eyes. I always want to look into those eyes. My ears twitch.

There's stomping. There's yelling, what else could I do. I just ran, her hand in mine. I can't stop now. I can't lose her. Ever. I can hear him, the man that created me. I hear him scream, defeated he is at their feet. They have him at gun point. She stops, for a moment, she yells for him. "Grandfather!" She yells, exhausted. His pleading look. I understand. I pulled her forward, 'We have to keep moving!' I though, Not angrily. I could never be angry at her. She bit her perfect lip, her eyes filled with tears, No. Please don't tarnish those beautiful eyes with tears. Please.

I grit my teeth, and pull her to myself. Her feet leave the floor, she's in my arms. This would have been perfect under different circumstances. 'please don't cry.' I mentally pleaded, her slender arms are wrapped around my neck as I ran. She's light so it makes no difference. I can hear them getting closer. 'God no.' I hear a shot, it misses. I increased my speed. I don't want her to be taken from me, she was everything to me. I wouldn't let it happen. That I secretly vowed. We reached the room. She looked at me with pleading eyes. I allow her to stand. She smiles, closing the door. She stares at me. As If in deep thought. I watched her as she pushed me backwards. I'm in an escape pod? "Promise me." Her words are serious. They grab my attention. Her eyes are tearing. "Promise me, you'll protect mankind." She smiles at me, "Sayonara, Shadow the hedgehog." Her words. Wait, Those were parting last words, right?

'No, no, no, no, no!'

The door opens, I see a man, he has a large gun. Pointed at my precious one, he warns her. I punch and kick at the glass. It's too strong. 'Oh please no.' my mind screamed. She smiled at me one last time. Her hands on the launch gear stick. 'Please don't. let them take me!' my mind screams again. Why can't I speak to her? Why are the words caught in my throat, her smile turns to a smirk at the man that dares to hold her at gun point. Her hands gripped the lever. She clenched her beautiful eyes. 'Please, no.' A loud shot, I watch the red liquid splatter from her perfect body. "MARIAAA!" I scream. The pod escaping from it's restraints. The world is in slow motion, the seconds passing like hours, as she disappears from my sight, her frail form falling to the floor. My eyes, they're stinging, they're leaking. I'm crying. She's gone.

"MARIA!" An ebony hedgehog shot up in his bed, his body shaking, his brow sweating. Large ruby eyes we barley visible in this light, he turned his head to his bedside clock 'A nightmare.' His breath finally stable. His striped legs slung over his bed. He pushed himself to his feet. The hedgehog approached his set of draws. His hand taking hold of a picture frame, in it his precious ones, his creator. And his best friend. "Please forgive me, Maria." Shadow whispered. He pressed his forehead to the photo, he clenched his teeth. His eyes, why won't they stop leaking? Why wasn't she here? Why can't he have her in his arms. "I miss you. Maria."
