No Survivors.
They had been sitting outside for hours, and the only thing running through her head had been No Survivors.
That and that stupid tennis ball.
Her father was out when she finally did return home. Meeting with Bates, the families, deciding what to do, making arrangements.
She had been ready for bed. Ready for a night of staring up at the ceiling and wondering why. When she had gotten the sudden urge to take a shower. She felt dirty. Unclean.
11:06.
She can just make out the thick, black hands of the clock through the steam, if she cranes her neck just so.
11:06.
54 minutes.
She has 54 minutes to rinse the day away.
She's given up on her hair. She'd pulled and scrubbed and lathered until she was quite certain that if she washed it anymore it would fall out. Dull, red clumps all over her floor.
She can feel the heat radiating off her skin, and knows that when she does eventually get out, she'll be uncomfortable long after.
No Survivors.
Glancing down, she can see that her whole body has turned red from the searing water. All the steam is started to make her lightheaded.
No Survivors.
But she still feels dirty.
So she picks up the cloth and the soap, and begins to scrub. Neck, arms, chest, stomach, legs. Scouring her body until the skin is satisfactorily raw and sore. And then she moves on to another body part.
She glances at the clock.
11:17.
She returns to her work, moving to her left leg.
She has 43 minutes to rinse the day away.
Don't ask me why, but this thing just popped into my head in the shower last night. I guess we never really got to see Cody react after Meghan and Sebastien's deaths, she was so busy trying to help Adena, so this is her moment.
