Our foreheads connect as I headbutt her, sending her several steps from me. She stares at me startled as I advance towards her; the surprise in her eyes is as evident as the anger in my own.
"That's a little something new!"
I strike next, missing her as I pirouette quickly and lash out.
My missing aim doesn't last long.
I jabbed her in the stomach with my elbow, before exacting my final blow.
This time, my sais drew blood, as it grazed across her cheek.
Just what I was planning on.
Thank Isis for my darling Rick, he taught me well.
Very well.
From right hooks to head butting, to shooting a rifle properly, I've learned plenty in the ten years we've been together. And I have much more to learn from the love of my life. But first, I have to help him defeat Imhotep- again.
We stand and catch our breath, staring at each other, one surprised to be losing the upper hand, the other ready to fight and kill if need be. Moments pass, time stands still; I'm alone with my rival, my nemesis, the woman who ruined my life and caused my death in my past; who tortured my family and murdered me in my present- and if I wasn't careful, would destroy my future as well.
She didn't give me time to decide.
Like a frightened deer in the middle of the road on a cold winter night, she turned tail and ran, rushing through the hall towards the main part of the tomb. Not willing to let my prey escape, I chased after her, for once, the predator in our sick little game.
If only I'd known what we'd gotten ourselves into.
