~The Ballad of Love and Hate~
Her chocolate brown eyes shimmered with delight as she pulled out the item she'd been searching for in her bag; her cell phone. Hurriedly, she unlocked the device and searched through her list of contacts, trying desperately to spot the name of someone she had been longing to see. A smile tugged at her lips when she saw his name and almost immediately she began typing her message to him. 'No doubt he'll be as excited as I am,' she told herself, 'It has been awhile after all.' Satisfied with what she had typed up, she sent the message and put her phone back into her bag. She sighed lightly as she rested her head on the window and stared into the clouds.
His dark eyes stared blankly at the text message that had woken him up from his sleep. It was from her.
Hey! Guess what? My "vacation" is finally over! I'll be home late, though. Oh, before you ask, the weather was fine and the ocean was great! I can't wait to see you again. :)
He scowled at the message before he carelessly dropped his phone back onto the bed. 'What do I care if she comes back?' he mumbled as he sat up and glared at the wall, 'I doubt anyone cares, actually. I barely even noticed that she left me here alone in the first place...' His scowl deepened as he stood up from his seat on the bed and glared mercilessly at the phone.
"I'll see you or I won't," he spoke coldly, as if it were her that he was speaking to, "Whatever."
She hummed happily to herself as she stared down at the dark blue ocean that the plane was flying over. As they were doing the entire time they'd been on the flight, people around her were admiring her appearance. The way the reflection of the ocean in her eyes somehow made it look bluer was a mystery. Her brown hair looked silky smooth, put up neatly in two perfect buns, bangs framing her face. With the sun setting, they could see that her hair wasn't just brown but had a brilliant reddish tint to it. Her fair, tanned skin seemed to glow under the dimmed rays of sunlight. Yes, she was a sight to behold. Not that she noticed all the admiration she was receiving anyway. She was to anxious. The plane would be landing soon. She'd finally get to see him.
He held his head high as he walked through the slightly crowded streets of the small town. Every now and then a complete stranger would wave or bid him a goodnight with a smile on their face, he would simply tilt his head in acknowledgement and keep a serious look on his. It was getting late, not that he cared. He really needed to get his mind off certain thoughts and he could only think of one way to accomplish that.
She arrived safely and on schedule at the airport. Her heart was racing, but, she made sure not to show it. She was alone, after all, and didn't want people thinking that she was crazy. She walked quickly, yet calmly, to the location the taxi driver had told her to wait at. Her suitcase dragging behind her. She smiled for what seemed like the hundredth time that day. She really couldn't wait to see him. She trusted him enough to take care of her house while she was gone. And, she hoped that he wouldn't be to upset about that fact that she had left without saying much. She wanted to make sure he was alright because she really cared about him.
He sat alone on the hood of his car. Not really staring at the moon or the stars. He just sat there thinking about her. How she had left due to a important family reunion that was going to be across the country, which ended up lasting months. How she asked him to take care of her home and water the plants. And, how, despite all the things he told himself, he missed her. 'I love her,' he thought with a frown. He leaned his back against the windshield and closed his eyes. He needed to think everything through before he did something reckless like every other time.
She stared blankly at the moving scenery. The taxi ride would take a while and she was letting her thoughts wander as they pleased. And, as expected, her thoughts were about him. How he selflessly agreed to take care of her things while she was away for an uncertain amount of time. How he was always there for her. 'I love him,' she thought. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath before releasing it. She really couldn't wait to see him.
-Hours Later-
She had been waiting in her living room patiently. She was worried. He had left all his belongs in her house and hadn't come back. The clock read well after two o'clock, though that clock was one that she need to fix, for it was far behind accurate. She held a cell phone close to her chest. It was his phone, he had left it on her bed. He forget to take it with him when he left several hours ago. 'Just a phone call,' she pleaded silently, 'a call from anyone. A sign, any sign. I just need to know he's alright...'
He walked swiftly into the living room and stopped when he caught sight of her. She seemed to have fallen asleep on the couch. 'No doubt waiting for me to get back,' he sighed as he knelt down beside her, '...she's so peaceful' He brushed the back of his hand along her smooth cheek. As soon as he did that, her eyes shoot open and he was knocked off his feet and onto his bottom. Two long and slender arms wrapped around his neck tightly. He froze.
"Sasuke!" She cried while she hugged him half to death. After the initial shock, Sasuke wrapped his arms around her lower back and pulled her in closer to him.
"Tenten," He hung his head slightly, feeling guilty knowing that he defiantly had her worried, "I'm sorry." She loosened her hold around his neck enough so she could pull back and look him in the eye.
"What for?" She smiled, "I'm yours and that's it, whatever," She inched her face closer to his, their lips only slightly brushed against each other before she finished what she had to say, "I shouldn't have been gone for so long. I'm yours and that's it, forever."
With that said, she kissed him with all she had, letting him know how much she's missed him. He returned her emotion and kissed her as if he'd never get the chance to again. After awhile they broke apart and she smiled at him. He stared at her before quickly pulling her into another tight hug. This time, she froze.
"Your mine and that's it," he held her tighter, "...forever."
Tenten wrapped her arms around the Uchiha's neck once more, gently this time.
"Forever."
