A/N: Ok... A short, one-shot. Takes place during Deathly Hallows... Ever so slight - kind of spoiler (I think). I thought that we needed a bit more of a look into what Hermione did to protect her parents, so I tried my hand at it. I think it turned out pretty well. But you can review and let me know what you think. :) Please do! Again... I am not British - so don't flame me for non-British things. I always do my best to keep it as British as possible. If you notice anything PM me or drop a review and I'll look into it and/or change it. Thank you!

Disclaimer: Nope... Don't own Harry Potter. Sadness... :(

It Isn't Fair

During the summer holiday, a girl with bushy brown hair was sitting in the middle of her room packing things into her school trunk. Everything that might be needed on her upcoming trip was going into the trunk. It was a lot of items, but finally, she closed the lid to her trunk and sighed.

"One last thing to do to prepare," she said to herself.

She got up and grabbed her wand. Turning her wand in her hand, she began walking down the stairs.

"I have to do this…" she whispered to herself trying to gain the confidence for what she was about to do.

At the bottom of the stairs, she stopped and looked into the living room. Her parents were sitting in the living room discussing something in relation to their dentistry work. She raised her wand and pointed it towards her parents.

I'm sorry, Mum. I'm sorry, Dad."

Sighing, she closed her eyes, tears running down her face. Her wand hand shaking, she began waving her wand and muttering the incantation. Her parents' faces went blank as she altered their memories.

"This should protect you while I'm gone. I'll come back for you as soon as I can."

'If I…' Hermione didn't finish her thought as she lowered her wand sadly. She wouldn't – couldn't think about that.

Turning, she walked back upstairs, grabbed her trunk, and then went outside. Raising her right hand, the Knight Bus appeared in front of her. Paying Stan twelve sickles and three knuts, she boarded the Knight Bus with her trunk. Once she sat down, she looked out the window and caught one last glimpse of her house before it disappeared.

"Bye Mom. Bye Dad. As Wendell and Monica Wilkins, you should be safe. Good luck."

'Wendell and Monica don't know me... Don't know Hermione Jean Granger. They should be... Will be safe," she thought trying to convince herself.

Hermione had tears rolling down her face as the knight bus 'banged' back to the street it was on and away from her parents - forever... It wasn't fair... It just wasn't fair...

A/N: Well... That's it... I'm not sure what I think of the ending. Let me know what you think. So thanks for reading it! :) I hope you didn't suffer through it, but if you did - leave a review and tell me, nicely, how I might improve it. :) Otherwise leave any comments, praises, or critiques. It always makes the writer feel good to know people liked their stuff.

Changes/updates have been made. Thank you, furrylilproblem12, for an ending suggestion! It's much appreciated.

A/N (9/3/12):Well, I've been going back and looking at my old stories, and I realized that this one needed some updating/fixing. There are some minor fixes to some grammatical errors, changes to some un-British things, and some additions that just made it flow better in my opinion.
