Darth Vader

A/N: I was thinking about the link between good vs. evil and Darth Vader and evil. This is the end result of wandering thoughts.

There are times, though rare, they do come. When the darkest of evil and deepest of hatred springs from one so young and innocent. One who loves, hopes, and dreams. Evil is more in the mind than body. Once the small seed is planted, it grows. Grows, grows, grows. Consuming all those happy thoughts and memories and twisting them until they are marred and unrecognizable.

For young Anakin Skywalker, the seed had been planted. Unnoticed and unchecked until too late. Separated from his only source of comfort, his mother, at a young age by Jedi he had only met; he was subjected to feelings of loss and uncertainty he had not felt while a slave.

Fear. Fear was what started the ball of evil rolling. Not knowing what the future had in store for him or what would become of his mother left on Tatooine. Skywalker feared what would come next. washed into the life of Jedi, he was told to forget it. To move on and not dwell too much in the past.

Letting the current take him, he followed the unknown twists and turns of life. On a mission years since his departure from slavery, his old life catches up to the young man.

His mother, his one source of light, had been captured and treated brutally by Sand People. Witnessing her death in his arms, the seed sprouts and begins its march of dedication. Every seemingly consuming his mind.

Unable to save a life of a loved one, his want for control swells. Saving lives. Power. The two go hand in hand. Skywalker wants to have the power to control the essence of life. To give, but ultimately in the end to take.

Love also rears it's head in the youths time of uncertainty. As the bud of evil grows, so does his affections for a young woman. After expressing his lust for power and the control over life, it slowly becomes a reality.

Hoping to save his lover from a visioned death during childbirth, the growth spreads and the evil takes stronger root. Pulled by the Sith Lord, he is granted the power of control, but at a price. So absorbed in his inability to stop death, he creates more death in order to save the ones he loves. And betrays another. Attempting to strike down someone he loves, Darth Vader is born. Through his lust for power induced haze, young Skywalker ultimately nourished and completed the growth of evil by striking down his lover through the Force and attempting to kill his brother/father figure. The price he had to pay.

Born again Darth Vader, his seed of evil now a billowing tree, the man is beyond saving. Evil, power, control, the tools of his trade. Controlling the galaxy through fear and spurred by his hatred, the Empire rules all.

But good can also be planted in the mind. His own son will take the dangerous path and plant the seed of light in his father mind. Faster than the evil, good can root and grow. Consuming only the evil and restoring the mind to its original condition. Opening ones eyes again and restoring hopes and dreams. The story of Darth Vader is one of good vs. evil where evil wins, but good strikes back and rises to the top as the solid victor, not to be beat down again. The evil consumes the good, but the good will ultimately consume the evil.
