Betty stood at her front door, ready to take that step away from the nest. She was tired of being safe all the time. She had two great guys that seemed to care for her a great deal. Yes care, even she realized that it was to soon in both relationships to be love. She had thought she was in love with Henry, but after that whole mess with Charlie she had realized that her instincts had been way off base. He had a child now and that came before anything else. Betty would not stand in the way, she would feel like she was distracting him from being a father. Which she felt would be totally unfair to the baby and Henry. As for Gio, while he was a great friend so far, it was just way to soon to be defined as love. Betty knew he would most defiantly try to sweep her off her feet. Gio was charming and it seemed like he would make a great husband one day. For now though he was her friend and that was all she had to offer anyone for the time beginning.
"Betty, are you sure this is what you want?" Hilda asked while giving her sister a quick hug. She was so proud of Betty, it took guts to do what she was about to do. Even though Hilda secretly prayed her sister would pick Gio in the end, this was still Betty's choice. Hilda briefly entertained the idea of clonking Betty over the head, tieing her up, putting her in a box marked for Italy. It would make a great present for both Gio and Betty. Hilda glanced around the front yard, but quickly squashed that idea. She would never intetentionally hurt Betty like that, as tempting as the thought maybe.
"Yeah, even I'm sick of being safe. I need to do this. Either way I will end up hurting someone."
Betty began to wipe at the tears that were threatening to fall at any moment. Hilda nodded her head, she hated to see her baby sister cry. She knew this trip would do her sister a world of good in the end. The taxi driver honked his horn, signaling it was time for Betty to make her final choice, that or she would be walking to the airport. He wasn't make any money sitting her watching the oddly dressed girl yapping away to her sister.
"Do you have you ticket to Washington?" Hilda asked. Resisting the urge to flip the taxi driver off. She really didn't like him, from the taxi she could see him eyeballing her cleavage.
"In my purse." Betty replied while giving Hilda another hug, sensing her sister's sudden unease. Her dad and Justin came outside to see her off as well. After a series of hugs, kisses and a promise to call as soon as she arrived safely Betty climbed into the taxi.
She was headed for an adventure of her own. It was time to prove to herself that she didn't need a man to make it. She would be independent and find things that she could write about when she returned to Mode. Something that would knock Clair off her feet. Hell it was Washington there had to be a crooked politician out there somewhere. One who was having a hot steam affair with the nanny. Maybe in the process she would find the real Betty again to, who knew? The old Betty had gotten lost between work and two guys. While Betty knew that both men would be disappointed in her, she had needed time to sort out her feelings. She didn't look back as the taxi drove away, from now on she would only look forward. She had made her choice and she had choosen herself.
The End!!
AN: While I would love Betty to choose Gio. I really don't think she will. The Tv gods like to anger me :) Please read and review. Just no flames they make me sad :(
