I opened my eyes. I realized that I must have been sleeping, not that I really need to nowadays. I felt the pull again and, for a spilt second, I felt sad but soon started flying towards it. While flying I began thinking "doesn't matter how many times I have to do this it still affects me just as much."

I soon see the building and land down softly. I enter to find a mass of people congregating around a casket, but I zero in on one in particular. A little boy no older than 7 staring at it as if waiting for the lady inside to wake up. I walk up to the child and place a hand on his shoulder, he looks up and says " mommy how are you here if you're right there?"

" I am here to help you understand what is going on." I reply.

"Oh well I know that." He explains.

"Really and what pray tell is going on?" I ask.

"You're taking a nap and we are going to throw a big party when you wake up."

Now comes the part I hate most about my job "no baby mommy isn't going to wake up I have to go now."

With a hint of tears the little boy asks " what do you mean you won't wake up how else are you going to take me to school."

"Oh no it won't be me that takes care of you it will be one of you aunts or uncles now."

"But I want you to take care of me."

"I cant do that anymore I have to go to a better place."

"But I don't want you to go." He says now crying fully tears streaming down his face.

I hug him to me and say "I know baby, but as long as you love me and never forget me I will always be in your heart. I love you. Promise me you'll be good for whoever takes care of you."

"I promise momma. I love you too."

He dries his tears and sits a little straighter than before. I slowly fade from his view waving as I am no longer needed so he can't see me anymore. I take a minute to compose myself and start flying again. "I'm glad I don't have to do that for everyone just the ones who truly need it. Yeah all of them are sad but few futures are dark, some well… those are the ones I must help. If I hadn't he might have become the next Stalin but now he might be the next Edison or Shakespeare." Sigh

It was at this point I noticed a boy of pale white skin and hair wearing lots of blue. "Jack Frost just the person to cheer me up."

I fly over and greet him as we haven't technically met before. "Hallo Jack, nice to finally meet you."

He does the equivalent of a jump and flies at least 15 to 20 feet away before he asks "who are you?!"

"I'm… well it's complicated as I have many names, but for now you can call me Mortoria spirit of acceptance at your service."

"Never heard of you."

"Not many have but me and sandy go way back."

"Whoa! You know sandy, hey you should come with me I'm going to meet the other guardians now."

"Well I don't know…"

"Come on, it might just cheer you up."

"How did you know I was feeling down."

"Comes with the territory of guardian of fun, I know when people need some even other spirits."

"Oh well I guess I'll come and see sandy it has been awhile"

"Cool, come on then!"

We then flew to the North Pole main meeting place of the guardians.
