A/N- I was going to write a happy story but I had this idea and I couldn't not write it!
Hope you enjoy!
Disclaimer- I do not own Alpha Force, that belongs to Chris Ryan.
Losing a friend is difficult, knowing that they're gone forever and there's no way of bringing them back. One bad little choice, one accident that not only changes that persons life, but has a ripple effect to the people around them.
After almost a decade of friendship, that's what happened to the five members of Alpha Force...
The plan was to split up for a couple of days, but keep in contact and complete separate parts of the mission and then join together to take this guy down for good. As a team. As Alpha Force.
Not one of them were expecting that next phone call. The call that changed everything in a matter of minutes.
Amber and Hex scrambled out of the taxi after practically throwing the money and the driver demanding he keep the change. As they hurried towards the entrance, they were joined by Paulo, who had just haphazardly parked his car while the sullen people around them grumbled about the rushed parking that took up almost two spaces.
Lunging for the door handle, a wordless yell made all three of them glance up. Li sprinted towards them, dodging the people who wandered about aimlessly. Finally reaching her friends, they urgently pushed their way through the crowded reception, Amber reaching the desk first.
Everything seemed to be in slow motion for the four friends as the receptionist told them where to go and pointed in the general direction. Pushing themselves off the desk they continued to make their way through the crowds, ignoring the irritated looks thrown at them. When the wave of people finally came to an end, they sped up slightly and continued on like that only slowing to let people past until they were stood staring at the door to the room they were directed to, dreading what was on the other side.
Seeing that no one was making any move to open the door, Paulo swallowed, trying to rid of the lump in his throat and quietly stepped forwards. Placing his hand on the wood he slowly opened the door.
Shuffling in after him, Hex, Amber, Li and Paulo stood speechless at the scene in front of them.
Alex lay propped up in the bed, a blank stare masking his light skin, even more pale then before, a small white bandage around his head. He was hooked up to multiple machines that drowned out every other noise with their steady beeping. The baby blue bed sheets stood out sharply against his exceedingly pale skin as a nurse noticed the four visitors stood staring at her patient. She gave them a sad smile as she passed them, letting them have some time alone with their friend.
Paulo stood with his arm around Li, his face pale under his tan. Li had silent tears crawling down her cheeks at the sight of her friend in this state. Hex's normal poker face had been shattered by emotion ever since he had heard the news. Amber gripped onto Hex's hand as she wiped away her tears, which were soon replaced with more. Edging forward slightly, still keeping hold of Hex's hand, Amber cleared her throat, not trusting herself to say anything without completely breaking down.
Alex's grey eyes flicked up at the sound and he looked at each person stood at the foot of his bed, finishing on the one that had just cleared her throat.
When Alex finally spoke, he said something that the other members of Alpha Force never wanted to hear...
"I'm sorry. Do I know any of you?"
