Chapter 1: Goodbye Signal

Students at the age of 17 are graduated from the combat school; Signal Academy. Kids and Teens ages 13-17 are enrolled to Signal to prepare and train to become the next generation of Huntsmen and Huntresses. Not only they get to craft their own weapons and combat or inherited as an heirloom, they are also to unlock semblances in their aura. Some of the semblances are rare that was passed down by their family members. However, their weapons and auras are required to be fueled by crystalline resources called dust. Therefore, the dust can come with different colors depending on the element an individual was using, such as fire, water, ice, lighting, steam and more. There are some huntsmen that can equip themselves with multiple dust for a supply of combinations. After graduating from Signal, two best friends are preparing a flight to take the next step by enrolling their first year to Beacon Academy, one of the top huntsmen academies in Vale alongside Haven Academy from Mistral, Atlas Academy in Atlas and Shade Academy from Vacuo. Humans and Faunus have one mission to protect the world from the soulless creatures of Grimm.

The Signal graduated duo are Marian Rose, people find her strange when classmates noticed her rare trait of silver eyes, but she is intelligent and has a love of history classes, her semblance is "speed" meaning she'll be able to move faster in a form of rose pedals and her weapon is "Moonlight Rose" a battle axe that doubles as a crossbow to shoot dust arrow. Marian is known to have been adopted by a huntsman named Miller Rider, her birth parents are nowhere to be found after he found her in the doorstep as an infant. Her adopted father had been giving her early education at the age of 6. Training her combat and archery. Later at 15-years-old, Marian learned the truth that Miller wasn't her biological father. But she still lives in the home she only knew and loved and although deep down she was wondering why her real parents would leave her, but the man who raised her is the only one to looked up to and he lets her choose the last name of her own. Since then, she chose the surname Rose, because her favorite flower is a rose. Donned with a hoodie and cape.

Standing alongside her is a blonde boy named Mu Xiao Long, a fun-loving huntsman in training who is also Marian's childhood friend since they were 8-years-old. Willing to get into trouble to help others in danger even though it puts himself at risk. They met at the park of Patch after moving in with his mother when his father died from illness, they played boardgames and basketball and play swordfights with cardboard. His mother is loving but at the same time she is overprotective and has her concerns about becoming a huntsman. But she decides to go along with it, because she wants her son to be happy. Mu goes to the same classes as Marian, doing homework and assignments together. Mu dreams of competing in the Vytyl Festival and doesn't care whichever huntsmen academy he was enrolled to as long as he trains in combat. Everybody believes that both Marian and Mu are a couple but they are not, but many thought they be great together since they were close friends. His semblance is "Pyro Gold", which he possesses the power to turn his skin into gold. His weapon is a chain ball dubbed "Golden Fist" are the knuckle ring to toughen his fist to throw punches. Here they are sitting in the port bay waiting for the aircraft to come pick them up to head for Beacon.

"Wow! I still cannot believe we're going to Beacon Academy! Can't wait to PARTY!" Mu then started dancing for joy. Playing music on his radio. "Mu, in case you forgot, we still have a few initiations to start on Beacon. Besides we just graduated three days ago and you're starting to take things a little too fast. So take it easy ok?" Marian said.

"Fine, you're no fun." Mu sighed.

"Come on if it weren't for the both of us, we wouldn't made it this far."

"I just thought I could use a piece of action killing off Grimm and becoming the most famous huntsman in history."

"I get where you're coming from, but trust me, this is going to take 4 years. Like Signal we have to take a lot of studying and training. You on the other hand are kinda reckless." Marian pointed out.

"Seriously, please tell me my mom didn't mention this to you?"

"Hey, I told her I look after you. Besides you're still my buddy and we'll always have each other's backs. I'm sure we'll be on the same team." Marian reassured. Which gives the blonde-headed teen a bit of relief. "Really? Thanks."

"The plane should arrive in less then 2 hours. I think we still got time to relax. What do ya say that we can go grab something to eat on the way here?" They then head for a snack bar in the 6th hall which is 4 blocks away from the bay to purchase an item to bite on. Marian bought a strawberry cheesecake and Mu purchased a bag of chips. "So how's your dad anyway?" he asked.

"Dads' on a huntsman mission overseas right now, I told him I call him when I get to Beacon Academy. He's becoming a nominee for the Huntsman of the Year awards taking down 90,000,000 of Grimm."

"You serious?! Dudette, that's so awesome!"

"Totally. Can I ask you something?"

"Sure. What about?"

"Do you remember people asking me about my eyes?"

"Yeah, hate to say it. Kind of Annoying."

"Do you think they're like weird?"

"What?! Pfft. No! I think they're cool. Ya know like some legendary myths where people use their eyes for some kind of superpower." Mu complimented. "Look I'm not sure if they're other like you having those silver eyes. But you can say that they're a rare trait. Why are you asking about this? I mean it's nothing to be ashamed of."

"Well you see, when Dad is enrolling me to Signal Academy, the headmaster of the combat school told me that "You have silver eyes. That's a very special trait that you possessed for an incredible power." I don't know what she meant by that but the more I think about it. The more I want to find out more about those silver eyes. Sometimes I thought it was just some urban legend I never heard about before. When I went to the library, I finally found something. The silver eyes are a trait to legendary silver-eyed warriors, passed down by parents. They are said to be feared by the creatures of Grimm, using their eyes to petrified them by flashing them some light. There's this one huntress I read about who also has silver eyes. And she was nicknamed the "Grimm Reaper"."

"No way, the Grimm Reaper?! I heard about her, she's one of the most powerful huntresses! But wait, whatever happened to her?"

"Who knows! People say she has been blinded in battle by thugs hired to assassin the Grimm Reaper, fortunately she managed to survive before she was either deceased or hidden from the world. I was hoping I would get to ask her some questions about this if I had the chance to meet her."

"Well that's a bummer. But who needs that power anyway? I mean you're good enough to bust some Grimm. You already beat me in combat and winning 2 Signal Tournaments."

"Aw, really? Thanks." Marian blushed.

"No prob." Suddenly there where explosions, powerful enough to make the ground shake. "Okay something's not right here."

"It's coming from the dust mines, come on!" Marian runs off to see what the incident is.

"But what about the flight?!" Mu asked.

"We still got a few minutes! We'll just make this quick!" Mu sprints off and follows along. When they got here, there was a robbery of dust coming. There are a group of Faunus wearing bandanas over their mouths to conceal their identities pointing their guns at the people. The miners did not have a choice but to surrender. "Hey!" Marian yelled. She pulled out her Moonlight Rose and twirls it around to try scaring them off at least. But they weren't frightened off and pulled out their swords and guns. "I understand what you're going through! But this isn't the answer!" She deflect bullets front, back and sideways while stepping forward, knocking away the Faunus. She then saw two of them running off with the case full of dust. They didn't got away easily when Moonlight Rose was transformed into a crossbow and shoots them some ropes to tie their ankles and trip them.

Marian was then pointed at gun, nearly stunned until Mu intervened, sweep kicking. Turning his skin gold to prevent the bullets from penetrating through him. He knock on 3 of them. But the gang leader got away but not with the dust or his fellow Faunus. Police arrived a few minutes after one of the miners dial a 911 call. The robbers are then handcuffed and the two teens realized they ae already late for their flight to Beacon. "Oh no, the plane is about to leave in one minute!" Mu reminded.

"Aw nooo! We're gonna be late and it's all my fault!" Marian exclaimed. Until a voice has spoken. "Perhaps I can help." The two turned around and noticed a young man with white hair, blue eyes, a blue-suited military-like outfit that fits more like a soldier than a huntsman. "Gletscher Schnee. At your service." He handshake the duo. "I would like to thank you for saving my crew."

"No prob. I'm Mu Xiao Long and this is my friend Marian Rose."

"Please to meet you."

"Likewise." Marian replied.

"I couldn't help overhearing, so I thought I can offer you a ride to get you two to Beacon Academy, you see I'm enrolled to Beacon too." Later the three are on a aircraft hangar called, the "Schnee Blizzard". "So, you're from Atlas?!" Mu asked loudly as the engine gets even louder. "Of course. My father is a dust miner and owns a Dust Mining Administrations. I studied at the Atlas prep school. Father thought I should enroll to Beacon Academy so that I could get a better job as a huntsman." Gletscher replied.

"What about Atlas Academy? I'm not saying you should be there, but what is your view?" Marian asked.

"Apparently, I never get the tour much as my father would say "its too much pressure." You get the picture." They were just a few miles away. "There we are. Behold I present you, Beacon Academy."

"This place is so huge!" Marian exclaimed.

"I'll bet Dad would wanna see me in action." Mu told himself

"Trust me, I'm sure all of us are going to have a great success in our first semester. Professor Ozpin has been my father's mentor at his youthful years. Not only he was a miner but also a huntsman who is the first Atlesian to enroll to this Academy."

"Sounds cool. My Dad also studied in the school. Looks like we got a future ahead of us."

"Can't wait for combat sessions." Unbeknownst to the passengers on board, a figure with black gloves, black hair and a spikey leather jacket without a shirt under is spying on the to-be students of Beacon.

Author's note: literally based on my dreams, too many ideas came into my mind. I've been thinking about giving the past to shine as what Team MGMA have found in the secrets before the events of RWBY.
