Chapter 1: The Fire Inside

I clambered onto the school bus at 7 am. Just me, normal 10 year old schoolgirl Flarinese Inferno, with my strange red eyes and hair.

I slumped into a seat on the bus all alone (as usual) a boy with shaggy black hair with a stripe of bright yellow similar to lightning sat next to me. Finally a change from sitting by myself! "Hi there!" said the strange boy, grinning. "What's your name? I'm Storm!" He was bright, perky, and bubbly. Shyness consumed me as I stared at him. "Well, hi I'm Flarinese, Flarinese Inferno." I said shyly. Then the bus stopped so suddenly that we both fell over causing me to hit the bar on the seat in front of my face, causing that to hurt a lot.

'Are you OK?' Storm asked. Obviously I was not ,so, stupid question. I felt a big egg-shaped lump blooming onto my face. Because I was in LOADS of pain I started to cry. But, it wasn't tears that came out. Dark glowing embers slid down my cheeks, tracing a fiery path through my face. Everyone backed away except Storm, who stood there, watching, eyes wide with excitement.

'OMGodsOMGodsOMGods! Finally, wow! I found you! After six months, twelve days, two hours, 26 minutes, and 52 seconds!' Storm yelled hysterically, completing a victory dance. I did a total confused derp face.' OK , OK, please chill, what in the name of Kronos' three upstart sons do you mean?'

Storm faltered. 'Oh wait, you don't know anything about gods and stuff and stuff and stuff and etc. But hey! - you know about Kronos! BUT! Do NOT insult the Big Three!' I was seriously annoyed now. 'Can you please tell me what the heck is going on?' Storm held out his hand. 'Come on, I'll take you to camp.'

Reluctantly, I took his hand, and we vanished.

Into thin air.

After I got over feeling like I had been sucked through a very narrow pipe, I was about to puke. I realized that we had arrived in front of a giant campfire surrounded by five girls and two boys. Judging by their faces, they all seemed really nice. But before I could introduce myself I tripped and fell into the fire, while retching. 'Aarrrrggghhh!' I yelled trying not to get burnt, failing dismally, and scrambling out of the flames. As I lay panting on the ground, it took a few moments for me to realize as well that I was not burnt! This probably has something to do with whatever Storm was talking about, I thought.

I rolled out of the fire as the girls gasped.

'She's the one!' One of the girls cried out and pointed. I got up and brushed myself off. 'Hey, you do know that it is rude to point.' I said, glaring at her. I began to look at the girls.

The rude girl had brown hair, green eyes, vines on her left arm, and she was barefoot. Another had rippling black hair, sharp, sea-green eyes, and wore a look of absolute bewilderment on her face. The next was a boy and he had midnight black hair, glowing black eyes, and a mysterious air. The fourth girl had blond hair and golden eyes. She smelled like fresh popcorn. The fifth girl had black hair with blue highlights, and sea-green eyes, again.

The sixth had saffron hair, yellow eyes, a strange sun-shaped birthmark on her arm, a dress that seemed to shimmer and sway, and flats with soaring mockingbirds on them.

The seventh was a boy who had custard-cream hair. His hair was roughly blown back, and he was floating just above the ground. His eyes were a deep sky blue, with glimpses of white and a dark indigo satchel hung over his shoulder.

The shocked girl said,'Well, this is ne-'

I fell asleep.
