I had been dreading this moment for every one of the forty-five minutes I knew Andromeda was dead. I didn't want to tell Teddy that he now was the only living ancestor. It was hard enough knowing that I was now to serve as a father for this young boy.
I found Teddy in the Burrow's back yard running around in a swimsuit. Arthur was spraying Victore and Teddy as they ran back and forth.
Waving, I forced smile was there only to prove to Teddy (and myself) that I could be the strong one. Teddy ran over to me, his face jubilant.
I pulled Teddy into a hug. "Harry, you're going to get all wet!"
Winking at him, I shrugged. "That's what magic is for…just don't tell Ginny!"
Teddy's eyes widened. "Magic!? Gram never uses magic around me!"
This pained me. Knowing that this boy would never see his grandmother again made my legs feel like Molly's strawberry jam.
"Hey, Teddy how about we go do something fun? What do you want to do?"
Teddy sometimes reminded me of Ron. He got along fine in big groups but give him a day one-on-one and he lit up like crazy.
Teddy changed and I dried his hair with my wand.
We had ate pie and cookies for lunch and now we were playing on the teeter-totter in my neighborhood park.
"Teddy, there's something I want to talk to you about."
Teddy nodded and walked over to the swings, motioning for me to follow. I had been too big for the teeter-totter and I was too big for the swings. But that didn't matter to me.
"I met your mum and dad when I was at Hogwarts. They were great people. Your dad, taught me a lot of cool stuff when he was my teacher. And your mum always worked to make everyone happy."
I looked at Teddy, who had his eyes on the ground. "If they were so great, why did they leave me?"
My throat closed up. "Sometimes…sometimes people who you care about have to leave because that's just what happens. But that never means that they have left you. Sometimes you can hear their voices and they can always visit you in your dreams. Plus they leave you with people who care very, very much about you. "
Teddy looked me straight on. He was only in primary school, but Teddy was a smart boy. "Harry, is Gram going to be alright?"
I swallowed and got out of the swing. Kneeling in front of Teddy, I looked into his eyes. "Someone hit your grandmother with a curse."
Teddy nodded. "I saw,"
This was the hard part "Teddy, you're going to live with Ginny and me now."
"Why can't I live with Gram?"
"Because the person who hit her was not a nice person and he hurt her…really badly,"
Teddy's eyes diverted and he didn't say anything for a long time. "Harry, do you want me to live with you and Ginny?"
Harry took Teddy by his shoulders. "I want you more than you could ever know".
Note: I had planned to write something like this, but got major writers block because I just don't do Harry-first person well…please tell me what you think and keep reading Dear Beautiful!!!!!!
