I got the idea to write this when I came across a tape with a Celebrity Blackjack program that had Kelli Williams.
WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS (STAYS IN VEGAS)
Part one
It was time for the yearly medical convention to be held in a major Las Vegas hotel/casino. Word had gotten around at the NIH that there were three lucky doctors to be chosen for an all expense paid trip to attend. Now for the important question; who would be chosen?
"So, who do you think' is gonna get to go?" Miles was asking Natalie as they were sitting in the break room enjoying a late lunch."
"I don't know. Pass me the ketchup please," Natalie replied, looking over at Eva who sat with a pouty expression on her face.
"What's up with you, Sunshine?" Miles asked as he dug into his salad.
"Does it really matter? Just because I never got an MD degree I get to miss out on almost a week in Las Vegas." Eva replied.
"Doesn't mean you can't pay your own way. Don't you have some vacation time saved up?" Natalie asked.
"That's right I do. Besides someone needs to make sure Miles doesn't spend all his time at the convention," Eva said, immediately brightening.
"Hey, isn't that the purpose of attending the convention?" Miles asked. And how do you know I'm going?"
"Trust me, I have a feeling you will," Eva answered.
"You know something we don't?" Miles challenged.
"Nope. Just a feeling," the press liaison replied.
""Well, I'm not going to get excited about it until I know who is definitely going," Natalie decided.
"But if you do get chosen, do you plan on spending sometime at the casinos?" Eva asked.
"I might just try my hand at black jack. You know I used to be pretty good at it," Natalie said thoughtfully.
"Hey, you still are. Remember Atlantic City?" Eva reminded her.
"Nat, I didn't know you played black jack," Miles spoke up.
"I used to when I was med school. Helped to pay the living expenses. At least every couple of months a bunch of friends and I would head up to Atlantic City and hit the casinos. Come to think off it I got thrown out a couple of them because they thought I was cheating," Natalie explained.
"Nat? You cheat? I'm shocked," Miles said with mock amazement.
She picked up her magazine and swatted him on the arm with it. "I didn't cheat but it's hard to prove if someone is counting cards."
"Ow. Be careful with that magazine," Miles admonished as he rubbed at the spot.
"Want her to kiss it and make it all better?" Eva teased.
"Watch it or this magazine has your name written all over it," Natalie warned the younger woman but she was smiling.
"Hey, do we have to separate you kids?" Frank joked as he and Stephen joined the rest of the team members.
"Natalie started it," Miles pointed.
"Something tells me I really don't want to know?" Stephen said as he took the empty chair beside Miles.
"So, who do you think is going to get to go to Las Vegas?" Frank asked as he sprinkled his homemade hot sauce on the scrambled eggs.
"I guess we'll find out when Kate makes the announcement," the team leader answered.
