Another "Jay-Jay the Jet Plane" story, this time it's "Herky's Bright Idea" Enjoy and comment.

Big Jake was flying around Terrytown, when trouble occurred. A strange whirring sound was heard, and the pilot was starting to lose control of Big Jake.

"We better head back before we crash." said the pilot.

When they arrived back at the airport, Brenda Blue, the best airplane mechanic, inspected Big Jake.

"It's a minor problem, no major damage. He should be fixed within two hours." she said.

Easy O'Malley however, didn't agree.

"Problem is, we need to take some passengers to the valley tonight, and Big Jake is the only one that can do it."

Brenda Blue thought for a second.

"We do have one backup airplane." she said. "But he hasn't flown at night."

Turns out, the airplane Brenda Blue was taking about was Jay-Jay. He flew over to Easy O'Malley.

"Can you do this important route?" he asked.

"Uh, I really..."

But before Jay-Jay could say no, Easy O'Malley flew away.

Big Jake saw that Jay-Jay was very nervous, so he told him the story of how he first flew at night. He also promised Jay-Jay that he could help with a stunt at the air show.

This made Jay-Jay feel better.

Soon, it was almost time for takeoff. The passengers boarded Jay-Jay.

"All clear for takeoff!" called Easy O'Malley.

Jay-Jay took off, and he wasn't scared! He was amazed by how wonderful the airport looked at night.

He flew by the river, which was glowing in the dark, and saw lots of stars twinkling in the night sky.

When he landed at the valley airport, the passengers thanked Jay-Jay for a safe flight.

The manager soon came over to see Jay-Jay.

"Well done!" he exclaimed. "You better head back before the fog rolls in."

On his way back, Jay-Jay was even more amazed by the night.

The fog rolled in, and soon Jay-Jay couldn't see a thing.

Then, there was trouble. The fog became so thick, that Jay-Jay became lost. Easy O'Malley and the other planes were worried.

"He should have been home by now." said Easy O'Malley. "There's nothing we can do."
But Herky wanted to find Jay-Jay, so he took off at warp speed.

He searched for a long time, until he finally found him flying in circles around the lake. They soon turned around for home.

It was nearly midnight when Jay-Jay arrived back at the airport.

"Well done Herky and Jay-Jay!" said Easy O'Malley. "You are both really useful airplanes!"

Jay-Jay felt very pleased with himself.

That Saturday, Jay-Jay got to fly in the air show with Big Jake. The spectators were so impressed by Jay-Jay, that they clapped and cheered!

Jay-Jay was the happiest of all.
